Windows 11 installation media not detecting any drive

Hi,

I already had Windows 11 installed. I decided to wipe out the all ssd drive and do a fresh installation. I created, on each of two different USB drives, a Windows installation media. Both don't find any drive during installation. It's not a problem of a malfunctioning SSD drive.

Help is much appreciated.

I thought I'd share how I overcame this issue. I was using a year old Dell laptop and tried to use the RST drivers, but it kept saying it couldn't find them. When I went into the BIOS setup, I found Dell had configured RAID for the drives setup. I changed this to be AHCI and saved the configuration. It complained that I may not be able to boot, but I ignored that since I was going to be reloading Windows. After a restart and boot to the USB

Windows installer drive, the laptop drive was visible for installation.

    Cheers!

Oh my god! You are a **** life saver! I just did this and it worked after I have tried everything for the past week and was about to take it to geek squad.

Hi, I am Dave, I will help you with this.

That problem usually happens when you need to add Intel RST drivers to the bootable USB you are using to install Windows.

Go to the support page for your PC on the manufacturers website, then from the chipset section, download the Intel Rapid Storage Technology drivers.

Then use the steps provided by Intel on this link to extract out the drivers from that installer and put them on the USB.

THANK YOU. I was scouring through google searches for this exact problem (Win11 install not noticing the volume to install on) and after endless dead ends, this fixed it.

It should be noted that this "fix" is useless if your goal is to setup a RAID volume (which can very well result in this situation). :/
