Keyboard layout keeps changing layout

My entire Windows is configured in English, the layout of the keyboard in Swiss-French. I speak fluently five languages between which I have to switch professionally several times during the day. I was drafting an e-mail (in English) and Windows kept changing the layout from Swiss-French to French (sufficiently different for causing a strange outcome). I would like to know how to switch off that Windows keeps trying to change the keyboard? I never used any other keyboard than the previously mentioned layout!

To Microsoft a general message: my personal experience is that artificial intelligence as it is called today, is in my country a complete mess in figuring out what language I am using. There is a world of people who regularly speak more languages and I believe that a number of people have this issue regularly. Kindly introduce for the sake of an efficient work flow possibilities a feature to simply deactivate annoying guesses. As mentioned, While typing, I do not switch my keyboard, so there is absolutely no reason for Windows to believe that I changed. Only for writing this small text, I had to change back 5 times to the layout I am using physically.

Generally speaking, I do not even understand the logic of Windows offering me 4 keyboard layout as input methods. That would only make sense if the user has different keyboards between which it switches. The shortcut to switch between keyboard was also deactivated!

This is not the first time I have this issue, but today it was so bad, that I could not work. For the record, because these autocorrect features do not work, I have deactivate it on all my devices, including smartphone.

I did that - quite some time ago. In fact, many times ago.

The only keyboard language options are English (Australia) - US. And yet, once again, " and @ have mysteriously swapped places. Which, when writing, really pisses me off.

Almost as much as it pisses me off to have to jump through several hoops to change back something I didn't want changed in the first place. Which pisses me off almost as much as it pisses me off that it keeps changing without me wanting it to, and following all these @easy to follow@ and @simple@ instructions that will @guarantee@ it will stop happening - which clearly, IT DOESN'T!!!!

    Hi,

I'm Rodrigo and I'll help you.

Change some settings to avoid this unwanted keyboard layout change:

Go to Settings > Time & Language > Language > Keyboard > Under "Override for default input method" select the wanted keyboard layout on the dropdown list.

To remove additional keyboard layouts, go to the previous screen (Settings > Time & Language > Language) select the language > Options > under Keyboards, select the keyboard layout you want to remove > Remove.

Same problem here. I believe this is a BUG, not s setting issue.

I have English (United States) as the primary OS language, but I also have Portuguese (Brazil) as a second one because I am Brazilian living in Brazil. For both languages I have set the Portuguese (Brazil ABNT2) keyboard layout and I set this layout in the override option as well, just in case.

All of the sudden it changes to US layout, and this layout is not even shown in the Language Keyboard Layouts list, which makes me believe that it's a bug.
It does show on the Language Bar list in the taskbar. And even if I manually change the layout in the taskbar, at some point it goes back to the wrong layout.

    Hi,

I have the same issue. System language is English and I have keyboard layouts for English and Swedish. I have Swedish chosen as default override.

But there appears to be a bug, where during login the layout is set before both layouts have been "loaded" and thus sets English layout despite my override preference. This is apparent as if I quickly click the keyboard layout chooser only English is available. Swedish only becomes available after a sometimes extended delay.

Windows 11: Under language & region, preferred language, select one language, language option, keyboards, installed keyboards, delete all the ones you are not using, keep only Swiss french QWERTZ or Swiss German Qwertz.

    Do this for all languages.

At least the keyboard will be right.

Time & language > Typing > Advanced keyboard settings > Override for default input method: select as appropriate.
