how do i get the pictures back that come on when i first start up my computer?

If I understand correctly, you are referring to the pictures that come up on your login screen, correct? These are the pictures that change daily and appear on your screen when you turn the computer on and are the background for the login screen when you open it.

This is known as Windows Spotlight. If it is not working then you should be able to turn it on by following these steps.

1. Right-click on the Start icon and choose Settings.
2. Click on Personalization.
3. Click on Lock screen.
4. Click on the menu next to "Personalize your lock screen".
5. Choose Windows Spotlight.

Your instructions get me to the background pictures after I open my screen that contains program icon, etc. I am looking for the personnel photos that are in a slide show that come on before I do anything. They are on the screen that comes on when I just turn on my computer When I click on the screen with these photos it opens a screen with the photos in the lockscreen.

where the hell is the start icon

THE PROBLEM:

After sleeping for a time, I wake up my desktop computer by pressing a key on the keyboard. What happens next is somewhat random and unpredictable. Usually it goes like this.

1. After pressing a key to wake the computer a full screen picture of some exotic place appears.
2. Sometimes the cursor is present and sometimes not. When it is, it is frozen and cannot be operated. I have no way to enter my code and wake up the machine.

My only option to-date is to wait a few minutes until this screen goes away.

3. After it goes away I am able to operate the cursor and enter my code thus enabling me to use the computer.

This started happening out of the blue. Is there a way to correct it?
