How do I find my product/license key for my Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2021?

I purchased Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2021 online in December 2021 and installed it on a local computer. This was a third-party purchase and not directly from Microsoft. I cannot for the life of me find my license and/or product key to re-install these products on a new computer. Is there any way to recover they license and/or keys I need so I can move my applications to my new computer?

    Hello Matthew, this is Emily.

Considering it was purchased in 2021, the codes you received would be more of a redeem codes vs. license key, and you would use the redeem codes to activate it into your Microsoft account, then moving forward, your Microsoft account is your license as digital license.

Do you still have access to the old computer? If so, you will need to make sure you uninstall it from the old computer. Then on the new computer, go to www.office.com, sign in with your Microsoft account, then click on the upper right "Install Office" to download the installer and run it to install.

    You are welcome.

When you buy Office product from a third party source, like Best Buy for example, since they don't know your Microsoft account, all they can give you is a redeem code. When you set it up for the first time back then, the redeem process asked you to sign into your Microsoft account to redeem, so that the license was then linked to your Microsoft account. The redeem code did its job there and it was then no longer valid. Think of it like an Amazon gift card, once you load that into your Amazon account, the codes on that gift card will no longer work.

So now, your Microsoft account serves as the digital license. If your product is already linked to your Microsoft account, when you sign into www.office.com and click on Install Office, it should allow you to download and install because it recognizes that this account has an Office product. If your account doesn't have this product, by clicking onto "install office", it will ask you to buy. Microsoft has moved away from actual product key since quite some years ago.

Because this version of Office you purchase is for one PC only, hence you will need to uninstall it on the old before it allows you to install on the new.

Thanks for the reply, but don't I need something (e.g. redeem code, product key, etc.) to download the apps to the new computer? I can't find anything re: my purchase three years ago - I was hoping something was stored in the applications. Also, on that page there is no option to "Install Office". There is an installation option for 365, but it's for premium and there's a monthly charge associated with it.
