Need Help Removing Windows Sandbox from Win11 Home.

As the title suggests, I attempted to install Windows Sandbox on my Win11 Home laptop via CMD. Although I managed to install it, it does not seem to run, and I have yet to been able to get it to run. I've just decided to give up and delete Sandbox but disabling it via the "turn Windows features on and off" does not seem to do anything; the app is still present after a restart. If there is any way I can fully remove the program, I would appreciate it.

EDIT:

Likewise, if anyone knows how I could get Windows Sandbox working, I would also appreciate that. I will attach a screenshot of the error I am getting, but it is the most simple of the bunch (as per my research), so I don't have any high hopes. I also checked my BIOS settings, and every setting regarding Virtualization is turned on. My computer also surpasses the minimum requirements. I'd appreciate any help though! :)

Edit 2: The BAT that I used to install Sandbox does have an uninstall feature, however, uninstalling did nothing in my case, and instead just broke the program to where I get this blank textbox: It's been removed from "turn Windows features on and off", which is a good sign I think. However, I still can't touch the EXE, on account of needing permissions from TrustedInstaller. If those are the only two reminants in system32 from Sandbox, please let me know.

    Hi Memes4Cash,

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

I'm Hahn and I'm here to help you with your concern.

I'm sorry to hear that you are having trouble with Windows Sandbox on your Windows 11 Home laptop. Windows Sandbox is a feature that allows you to run applications in a secure and isolated environment, but it is not officially supported on Windows 11 Home edition. You may have installed it using an unofficial workaround, but that may cause some issues and errors. Windows Sandbox - Windows Security | Microsoft Learn

To remove Windows Sandbox completely from your system, you can try the following steps:

    • Open the Command Prompt as an administrator and run the following command: Dism /online /Disable-Feature /FeatureName:"Containers-DisposableClientVM"
    • Restart your computer and check if the Windows Sandbox app is gone from the Start menu.
    • If the app is still there, you can delete it manually by going to C:\Windows\System32 and finding the file named WindowsSandbox.exe. Right-click on it and select Properties. Go to the Security tab and click on the Advanced button. Click on the Change link next to the Owner field and enter your username. Click on OK and apply the changes. Then, go back to the Security tab and click on the Edit button. Select your username and check the Full control box. Click on OK and apply the changes. Now, you should be able to delete the file.
    • You may also want to delete the WindowsSandbox.wsb file from the same folder, following the same steps as above.
    • Restart your computer again and make sure that Windows Sandbox is completely removed from your system.

I hope this helps you resolve your issue with Windows Sandbox. If you have any other questions or feedback, please let me know.

    Your Sincerely
