Hi
Welcome to Microsoft community.
I know your issue with the internet connection. It's indeed frustrating when you lose connectivity while gaming. Here are some steps you can try to resolve the issue:
- Check Network Adapter Power Settings: Go to Control Panel > Network and Internet > Network and Sharing Center > Change adapter settings. Right-click on your Wi-Fi connection and select Properties. Click on Configure, go to the Power Management tab, and make sure the 'Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power' option is unchecked.
- Check Power Plan Settings: Go to Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Power Options. Click on 'Change plan settings' next to your chosen power plan, then 'Change advanced power settings'. In the list, find 'Wireless Adapter Settings', expand it and make sure it's set to 'Maximum Performance' when plugged in and on battery.
- Reset Network Settings: Open Settings > Network & Internet > Status. Scroll down and click on 'Network reset'. This will remove and then reinstall all your network adapters, and set other networking components back to their original settings.
- Disable Antivirus/Firewall Temporarily: Sometimes, antivirus software or firewall settings can interfere with internet connections. Try disabling them temporarily to see if the issue persists. Remember to enable them back after testing. Disclaimer: Temporarily turn off real-time Microsoft Defender antivirus protection in Windows Security. However, keep in mind that if you do so, your device may be vulnerable to threats. So please turn it on immediately once issue fixed.
- Check for Overheating: Intensive activities like gaming can cause your laptop to overheat, which might lead to performance issues or shutdowns. Make sure your laptop is well-ventilated and not overheating when the disconnects happen.
