I am having many problems with my WINDOWS 7 Installation. I am having error messages and can't access files I can't lose. Can I find an ISO for reinstalling Windows 7 or upgrade to Windows 10 or 11 without losing my files. I cannot even save Screenshots now.

I am also not able to open my Microsoft Office 2010 files.

Everything is having issues with errors and freezing the screen.

Task Manager is the only way to close programs.

I have tried every Maintenance option.

Most likely you have a badly corruped hard drive. Win7 machines are pretty old now. Laptop HD's have a life expectancy of about 5 years, desktop about 8. In most cases I find the HD has failed and it is full of viruses and corruption.

Re-installing on an old HD is dumb. A new one is easily installed and not very expensive. I have many clients with computers that are in excess of 10 years old and still run very well. That's because I replace hard drive based on these intervals. Laptops are not very repairable and often have other problems that are too expensive to fix. Desktops are mostly non-propetary and are almost all off-the-shelf commonly available parts, and therefore are emminently fixable.

One commonn problem is people having PCs with illegal Win7 installations. Local shops often do this and people who claim to be experts (too many to count). In many cases, people have taken their PC to a local shop where the HD was replaced and instead of re-installing the OEM licence, the tech installs an illegal version.

windows 7 has a limited future, but it still works just fine for most at-home people. I have a practice in which I support about 90 win7 clients, using Chrome and a top notch AV program.

I just did a complete install for a client on a new hard drive this week. You must have a Win7 install disk for the edition of Win7 that you OWN. You had to have either bought it at a retail store or it came with an OEM mcahine. You must enter the Microsoft Product Key that is on the licence for Win7 that you hold. The MPK is on the sticker that came with the product you bought. Once the install takes place, (do not install anything at this point), proceed to windows Update. After you do all the Win Updates you want, set the WU to NEVER..... Always install at top notch AV, and use a non-microsoft browser, like Chrome.

If your hard drive is bad, you can still copy DATA from it by using a working computer, an external drive adapter and the hard drive from the computer. You cannot copy programs this way.

I'm afraid that the only version of Windows that Microsoft currently sells - and thus the only version that you can obtain legally - is Windows 11.

The problems with Windows 7 are inherent in the operating system itself, so you cannot compensate for them by changing its settings or by installing protective software or taking other measures. I am only trained and experienced in operating Windows the way it was designed to be used, and in a safe manner. I cannot in good conscience advise you otherwise. In any case, my experience in cybersecurity would not allow me otherwise.

Obviously, Windows was not designed for the unique position in which you find yourself. I am deeply sorry for your situation.

If you are willing to keep Windows 7 completely disconnected from the internet, it will be safe to use. If you are unable to find someone who can repair your computer, your best remaining choice is to restore that computer to the way it was when you left the factory. This will work perfectly on the first try as long as you have not repartitioned the hard drive, since computer manufacturers rely on a hidden hard drive partition to restore the computer. However, doing this will effectively erase your hard drive, and replace it with the original factory software.

Thank you so much Canadian Tech for your response.

I cannot even take screenshots now. Once I use a program it shuts down after short usage, I get this error message.

Exception priveleged instruction (0xc0000096) occured in the application at location 0x7213a928 Click on okay to terminate the program

The program can then no longer be used until I reboot. Malwarebytes was also turned off and cannot access anymore.

I have an original install disk but it is in storage 3000 miles away.

Yes I have the original disk and legal key.

My plan now is to get a portable drive and copy all personal files to it.

Then reinstall with the ISO using my Legal CD Key.

I am hoping it is just a malware I have picked up somehow and the install goes okay.

Other than that I am lost. IF it is a Processor problem it means a new computer.

IF it is malware or virus I should be okay.

Thank you so much for your response I will take your advice.

Honestly, your best option is to get a new computer.

Even if you were able to solve your computer's problems, Windows 7 is simply not safe to use on the internet, and there's nothing that you or anyone else can do to make it safe.
