I have a hard drive that currently has Windows 10 installed on it. Recently, I got an SSD to upgrade the boot speeds. How do I go about updating it?

    Hi ,

I am Ivan, I will help you with this.

Look, it is possible to use the image recovery image system to copy your windows to another HD.

It's a bit complicated but possible if you keep the image on the main disk and use SSD to save the image.

    1. Type and search for [Control Panel] in the Windows search bar and click Open.
    2. In the System and Security field, select [Backup & Restore (Windows 7)].
    3. Select [Create a system image].

In the On a hard disk field, select a drive where you want to save the system image⑤ and select [Next]⑥.

    1. The system lists the drives to be backed up and the required disk space. Select [Start Backup] to start creating a system.

System image creation is completed, select.

5; On the drive you save the backup, it will generate a WindowsImageBackup folder, which is where the system image is located.

If you want to keep the old system image, you can copy the entire WindowsImageBackup folder to a new location and create a new system image.

You can use a third-party Macrium application (https://www.macrium.com/reflectfree) or Minitool Partition Wizard

After following this procedure, let me know to show the second part of this form using Windows, but there are other third-party applications that are easier to clone.

    Hope this helps.

I want to clone my Samsung SSD to a new Hikvision Desire 256 GB SSD because the Samsung one has degraded to 65% and is making my Windows 10 lag alot, so since u mentioned Clone Go and other cloning tools, can u tell me which one is better and considered a free ware like i dont need to pay for just cloning windows?

    Laptop: Lenovo ThinkPad
    i5-6200U
    12GB DDR3L RAM
    Samsung 256GB Sata SSD
    No NVME
    Intel HD 520 IGPU

To upgrade your boot speeds by migrating Windows 10 from your hard drive to the SSD, you'll can follow these general steps:

    1. Backup Data: Make sure you have a backup of important files.
    2. Connect SSD: Physically install the SSD into your computer.
    3. Clone Hard Drive: Use a cloning tool (such as CloneGo, Cloner, Clonezilla and so on)to copy everything from the hard drive to the SSD.
    4. Set SSD as Boot Drive: Enter BIOS/UEFI settings and set the SSD as the primary boot device.
    5. Test Boot: Restart the computer to ensure it boots from the SSD.
    6. (Optional): Reformat Hard Drive: If desired, reformat the old hard drive for extra storage.
    7. Update Drivers and Settings: Check and update drivers, optimize settings for SSD usage.

If you don't want to use third-party software, then you can opt for Windows' mirroring feature. However, it is important to note that this is not dedicated to cloning the entire hard disk, it is more for backing up or transferring some of the files.
