Configure the network firewall to allow access to the following URLs on port 80

When I sign in to the Wi-Fi on two different college campuses MSN.com opens after logging in which is causing me trouble.

This article: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/troubleshoot/windows-client/networking/internet-explorer-edge-open-connect-corporate-public-network suggests this fix:

To prevent the browser window from opening when the computer connects to a network that has a proxy server, you have to configure the network firewall to allow access to the following URLs on port 80:

*.msftncsi.com

*.msftconnecttest.com

I am using the Firewall in Windows Security that comes with Windows 11.

How do I create a rule to allow port 80 for only the specific URLs listed above?

Windows for home | Windows 11 | Internet and connectivity

Step 3 does not match what I am seeing. On the Programs and Services tab for the new rule there is no option to Customize. The available options are Programs, Application Packages, Services, Compartments.

None of these options leads to an option to select Remote addresses.

    Please advise.

Hello, thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Community. I am here to help and provide assistance with any questions or concerns you may have.

To start, open Windows Security and navigate to Firewall & network protection. Then, go to Advanced settings and select Inbound Rules.

From there, click on New rule and choose the Port option. Next, specify TCP and enter '80' in the Specific local ports field before clicking Next. Opt to allow the connection and proceed to the next step.

Choose the appropriate network profile, such as public, and click Next. Optionally, select other profiles if needed.

Finally, give the rule a descriptive name like "Allow Specific URLs on Port 80" and complete the process by clicking Finish.

Now, to add the specific URLs:

    1. Right-click on the newly created rule and select Properties.
    2. Go to the Programs and Services tab.
    3. Click Customize.

Under Remote addresses, check These IP addresses and choose Specific addresses.

In the field, enter the specific URLs separated by semicolons: *.msftncsi.com;*.msftconnecttest.com.

    1. Click OK on all open windows to save the changes.

I hope this helps, let me know if you have additional questions or if there is anything else I can help you with.
