I have a USB external drive connected to my modem/router. I use that as the base for a Family Plex Server.

Now, today I had to format the pc, so I have a clean fresh install of Windows 11.

I can perfeclty access the drive though both Samba share and FTP, I can even add a direct access to the drive from windows explorer. However, I CANNOT MAP THE DRIVE, because the network tab in examine is completely empty. Now the thing is, I need to map it as a drive, otherwise I can't choose it as an option on Plex, accessing from explorer is not enough, I have to map it.

    Hello,

Certainly! Here are the steps to map a network drive using File Explorer in Windows 11:

    1. Open File Explorer:
      • Press Windows key + E on your keyboard to open File Explorer.
    2. Navigate to “This PC”:
      • Click on “This PC” in the left pane.
    3. Access the “Map Network Drive” Option:
      • Click the “More options” (three dots) button in the command bar.
      • Select the “Map network drive” option.
    4. Assign a Drive Letter:
      • Use the “Drive” dropdown menu to select the drive letter you want to assign.
      • In the “Folder” field, enter the network path to the shared folder. Alternatively, click the “Browse” button to select the folder you want to map as a network drive.
      • Click “Finish” to complete the assignment.
    5. Enter Login Credentials:
      • When the mapped network drive opens, enter your login ID and password if prompted.

Following these steps will allow you to map a network drive using File Explorer in Windows 11. Remember to use the IP address instead of the computer name if you can’t connect to the shared folder. Additionally, if the resource-providing device uses a password-less Microsoft account, you’ll need to create a local account to establish the connection, as mapping won’t work otherwise.

If it is helpful, could you please select "Yes" about "Was this reply helpful?".

I hope you will solve the problem. And, if you still have problems, feel free to ask us here.

    Best regards,

    Hiroki Terada

Microsoft doesn't support that. For any given server, regardless of how many shares you use, you can only use one username at a time to connect to that server.

This has been true for as long as I can remember, at least 20 years, so I don't know how you could have done this before.

    Hello,

How could you map multiple Network drives with different users and passwords. Because it doesn't work for me, but it worked before. I have 3 Shares so 3 Network Drives and I want to login to every network drive with different credentials?

I just went thru this again on my new PC. Figured it out before on my laptop but couldn't get it to work on my PC. After trying all the recommended solutions I could find on Google, the only thing that worked was changing the WORKGROUP name on the PC to match the NAS drives you are mapping.
