Wi-fi keeps getting disconnected randomly. Could be every few seconds or few minutes.

So I have had this issue with my pc for several months now and I have just been dealing with it. But basically my wi if connection will just disconnect for a few seconds at a time (1-10) and then reconnect. Sometimes it won’t happen for an hour, sometimes it will happen every couple of seconds. I have tried updating any drivers I could, tried the thing where you open command prompt and entered the commands to reset the ip stuff, and even bought a new usb wifi adapter because I thought maybe the other one was just old but that didn’t fix it. So now I’m just debating getting a new pc or just having terrible connection all the time. If anyone could help that would be great!!

Thank you for your reply and answering the questions. Please try the below steps for further troubleshooting.

    1. Try restarting the Network Service

Press Windows + R, and type Services.msc then hit OK

Scroll down and look for Network Setup Service

Double-click it and change the startup type to Automatic and click "Start".

Go to the “Recovery” tab and Click the First Failure dropdown, then select Restart the Service.

    Click Apply then OK.

Restart your PC and then check.

    1. Use an older driver

Press Windows + X, then choose Device Manager.

    Expand the 'Network adapters' section.

    Locate your wireless driver.

Right-click on it and choose 'Update'.

Select 'Browse my computer for driver software'.

Choose 'Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer'.

Pick an older driver from the list and click 'Next'.

    Thank you.

Hi there! So I have tried all those things you mentioned because I’ve seen them on other similar issues, but none have worked, at least permanently. When I use the command prompt to enter all those commands it seems to fix the issue for at least a little while, but then it continues again. This has been going on since the last few months of last year. So I don’t recall if there was any updates at that time or anything that started this issue. Thanks for the help

Hi Max. My name is Lester, and I am an Independent Advisor. I'm sorry that you are experiencing this issue. I'd be more than happy to assist you.

Have you installed any new software or updates recently? When was the last time it worked without any problems?

    1. Run the Network troubleshooter

Click the Start Menu > Settings > Network & Internet > Status.

Select Network Troubleshooter. Follow the on-screen procedure, and see if that fixes the problem.

    1. Reboot your modem and wireless router.
    2. Type CMD on your search bar and right-click the result, run as administrator

copy and paste each command below and hit enter:

netsh int tcp set heuristics disabled

netsh int tcp set global autotuninglevel=disabled

netsh int tcp set global rss=enabled

    netsh winsock reset

    netsh int ip reset

    ipconfig /release

    ipconfig /renew

    ipconfig /flushdns

    Restart your PC then check

I hope this information is helpful. Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any more questions. Thank you
