I need help with printing a PDF which opens albeit locked.

Problem is printing; no error message; just information message as follows

The document could not be printed kindly use our help page to troubleshoot.
If you continue to face this issue kindly reach out to adobe support for assistance.

I tried following:

  1. Microsoft Print to PDF which also don't print but shows different message "Insufficient data for image".
  2. Redact but sanitize option is greyed out
  3. Compress online but Adobe think it is encrypted and did not compress.

Following works

  1. use Edge
  2. customize printing setting as shown below.

However, is there a better approach?

Display in Printer as
Print Banner Page Off
Document Name Settings (Except for Store a... Off
Expand Print Region and Print Off
Rotate Print Data 180 Degrees Off
Always Rasterize at Host Off
Black and White Bitmap Processing in Auto C... Mode 1
Skip Blank Pages Mode Auto 1

You can check your browser's settings to find the fonts available for your browser.

These fonts do not appear to be in the browser's list, and the browser cannot add additional fonts.

The fonts that can be selected in the browser are affected by the fonts installed on the system.

To obtain some fonts, you may need to retrieve or download them from other channels (search engines, font library websites).

But the file itself will most likely not be affected by the newly installed fonts.

Newer PDF tools may not be able to handle the configuration information produced by the tool previously used to create the PDF file.

    Hi panes-rubic,

Thank you for getting back to us.

If sharing the original file has business/legal implications, it is not recommended to share it in this thread.

If it's part of the declaration file that comes with some commercial software, would you mind sharing the name of the software with us?

As for the file itself, you can try to use other Windows 10 or Windows 11 available around you to perform the test, which may be able to avoid potential legal issues as much as possible.

In addition, if the potential idea is specific to Adobe products, the Adobe product team may have richer experience.

    Thanks Kyo,

    this is what I found

    Created: 2/20/2009 PM
    Modified: 3/12/2024 AM
    Application: PScript5.dll Version 5.2
PDF Producer: Acrobat Distiller 7.0 (Windows)
    PDF Version: 1.6 (Acrobat 7.x)
    Location: C:\Users\myuserid\OneDrive - MyCompany\Documents\
    File Size: 2.07 MB Bytes)
    Page Size: 210x297 mm
    Tagged PDF: No
    Number of Pages: 42
    Fast Web View: No

Additionally, some Fonts Used in this Document are not in my Windows 10 Enterprise

    My additional questions

    1. How to know if these Fonts are available in Edge?
    2. How to get Windows list "Fonts Used in this Document"?
    3. How to add missing Fonts?

    Hi panes-rubic,

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

Thank you for sharing an alternate solution.

As of now, it might be difficult for us to come up with more clear and convenient ideas.

Based on the description available, the phenomenon seems to be related to the PDF file itself, such as data anomalies in the PDF file layers.

Would you mind sharing more information about this issue with us?

    • Is the printing problem limited to specific files?
    • If you perform a print operation directly to the website in Microsoft Edge, will you encounter the same problem?
    • Is the situation the same if you create a PDF test file directly (without using Adobe software to create it) and then perform a test of the print function on it in Microsoft Edge?
    • If possible, would you mind sharing the original file with us? This may help us to see if the same phenomenon exists in our device environment.

Files can be shared via cloud storage services.

For Microsoft, the common cloud storage service is OneDrive.

Thanks Kyo for very detail and useful information.

    • Is the printing problem limited to specific files? Yes; can old PDF be cause (this is 2007)
    • If you perform a print operation directly to the website in Microsoft Edge, will you encounter the same problem? Open PDF with Edge resolves my problem but since Adobe is our default, I am seeking solution for Adobe Print.
    • Is the situation the same if you create a PDF test file directly (without using Adobe software to create it) and then perform a test of the print function on it in Microsoft Edge? Inability to print is my first encounter in five years of printing PDF.
    • If possible, would you mind sharing the original file with us? This may help us to see if the same phenomenon exists in our device environment. Before sharing this PDF, how to get assurance there is no legal concern sharing said encrypted file from external source with following characteristics?
               (A) is password protected

               (B) no declaration of copy right

               (C) Document Security Setting as follows

    Document Restrictions Summary
    printing: Allowed
    Changing the Document: Not Allowed
    Document Assembly: Not Allowed
    Content Copying: Not Allowed
    Content Copying for Accessibility: Allowed
