Why can’t I see my cursor & How can I get it back?

My HP laptop’s cursor does not show at all, and it’s not that it’s just invisible, I can’t click on anything. I am able to sign in by typing my pin and using the enter key, but that’s about it. I am stuck on a screen about using Microsoft’s recommended browser settings, so I’m not even able to use the windows key to open the pop up and use settings to fix it. I’m a broke student so it would suck to have to spend money to fix this or buy a whole new laptop. I also have a lot of important stuff saved on here. I haven’t been able to find a solution after browsing for a VERY long time so I am very desperate. So if you can provide any help, I would really appreciate it. I also included a photo of the screen my computer it stuck on that I can’t get out of.

    Hello,Emmamartin6

Thank you for posting in the Microsoft community.

I understand very well how you feel and I will try to help you find the cause of the error, thank you in advance for keeping your patience to find the error step by step with me. According to your description, the cursor is not displayed on the computer.Would you mind sharing more information about this issue with us?

Have any special events occurred on your device recently? For example, system update, driver update, application update ,etc.

Since you can't use the mouse on the system right now, try pressing the "Tab" key to change the focus box? Also try "Crtl + Shift + F10" to see if it brings up any windows.

Please also follow the steps below to enter Safe Mode and check if there is a cursor in Safe Mode so that we can check if there are more ways to use it:

    1. Press and hold the power button for 10 seconds to turn off your device.
    2. Press the power button again to turn on your device.
    3. Immediately after Windows starts (e.g., on some devices, the manufacturer's logo is on restart), press and hold the power button for 10 seconds to turn off the device.
    4. Press the power button again to turn on your device.
    5. Press and hold the power button for 10 seconds to turn off your device while Windows restarts.
    6. Press the power button again to turn on your device.
    7. Allow the device to restart to perform the automatic repair, and then select "Advanced Options" to enter winRE.

In winRE, on the "Select Options" screen, select "Troubleshoot > Advanced Options" > "Startup Settings > Restart". After the device restarts, you will see a list of options. Select "5" from the list or press F5 to enter the "Safe Mode with Networking", this way you can switch to the system's Safe Mode for further actions.

Give it a try and feel free to contact me in the forums with any developments.

    Best Regards,
