I recently set a new custom pc. While watching movies in prime video or netflix my screen goes all black for few seconds and comes back or black squares appearing in different shapes each time. When ı wanted to switch between tabs in microsoft edge it is also happening. In games rarely black screen issue is happens but there is no problem for performance . I updated my bios and graphic card drivers. Changed my display port and formatted 2 times. Also activated windows with key.

    I7 13700K

    RTX 4080

    32GB DDR5
    LG C3 4k 120hz.

    Windows 11

Same issue. Please dont reinstall your drivers. This is not a rare issue as another said. This is actually a very common issue for people who own 4k 120hz tvs and use them as monitors. It is also a common issue with RTX 40 series gpu.

This bug, often referred to as The Checkerboard Bug, exists in both Edge and Chrome. Some blame Microsoft, some blame chromium, some blame nvidia.

There are many temp fixes, but most updates to windows will break it.

Here is the fix that I found that works for me,

Turn off scaling in Nvidia CP.

    1. Open Nvidia CP
    2. Under Display on the left side look for Adjust Desktop size and Position.
    3. Under this section look for 2, Apply the following settings. Change from Aspect Ratio to No Scaling and apply. It looks like this.![Image](https://learn-attachment.microsoft.com/api/attachments/031afca0-238a-473f-a08a-3c08eb3bbc80?platform=QnA

reply on ******@gmail.com maybe it's monitor issues, but some guy recommended disable hardware acceleration on edge. BTW I have same issues on chrome

    Hi,Boran Can TURAN

Hello, thank you very much for your reply, let's troubleshoot your issue step by step, this may take some time.

Based on the image you re-uploaded, this is really rare, you did mention before that this black square appears when watching a movie on Prime Video or Netflix, so could you ask if it happens when using other software, or if it happens during normal day to day use.

If it only happens when watching a movie on Prime Video or Netflix, you can try browsing the video on the webpage and see if it works, this can troubleshoot if it's an issue with your movie watching software.

In addition you can try a clean boot to rule out third party software and see if it happens as well, you can refer to that:

How to perform a clean boot in Windows - Microsoft Support

Disclaimer: A “clean boot” starts Windows with a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. It helps to determine whether a background service is interfering with your game or program and to isolate the cause of a problem.    These steps of "clean boot" might look complicated at first glance. However, to avoid any trouble for you, please follow them in order and step-by step so that it will help you get back on track.

Thank you for your time and effort working on this issue.

    Best wishes
