I can't understand how to play a DVD on my computer. I was told it was free. I paid Microsoft $15 for an app to play DVDs. I still don't know how to make it play.

I was told by Microsoft that DVDs could be played for free on my computer. I paid $15 for an app to play DVDs on my computer in addition. I still don't have the slightest idea of how to make the DVD in my computer right now play!

    Hello,

When you put the DVD disc into the DVD drive, can you see the icon of the DVD drive on the "This Computer" page?

Normally, you can double-click on the page of "This Computer" to open the DVD to automatically play its contents, or right-click to open the DVD directory and enter its folder to view the contents (some DVDs support segmented playback).

Windows 10 comes with "Movies & TV" to be able to play DVD movies. I hope you can give these a try and let me know the results.

If you see any errors, such as an error message or a file that cannot be played, please provide a screenshot of the problem so I can confirm the problem.

Thank you for your patience and understanding!

    Sincerely,

This double clicking does not start playing the DVD in Windows 11.

I am having the same issue. I burned my dvd and now want to play it to verify that it burned correctly. When I double click the (External) DVD drive to play the dvd it gives me separate video and audio files. I just want to play the dvd seems like if you opened it with Media player it wouldn't give you the seperate files that it would just play the dvd.

I guess I have to look into 3rd party software to do this.

I'm controlling my computer with my keyboard. I don't have anything fancy. I can just barely figure out how to work only that. When I went to school there weren't even calculators yet. Then computers were too rich for my poor blood. Now that refurbished computers can be bought for $60.00, I don't have the slightest idea how to use one. My keyboard is connected to my computer by a wire. I have to get up and walk over to my computer which is at the other end of the wire. Then I must open and close the DVD drawer for no reason to play the DVD that was already in it. Why can't I simply make the DVD play from my keyboard without needlessly opening and closing the drawer?

Yes, it is DVD Player for Windows from the Microsoft Store. I'm trying to make the DVD drive built into my computer play. No matter how much I select Windows Media Player or DVD Player for Windows all I get is useless information. I finally figured out I had to tell the AI to OPEN DVD Player for Windows. If it opened itself, after being selected, it would have saved me all this trouble!
