Onedrivesetup.exe - Entry Point not found

Hi,

This message has been appearing on multiple Windows 10 from the morning of the 6th March.

Not sure if my image attached but the error says:

OneDriveSetup.exe - Entry Point not Found

The procedure entry point GetUserDefaultGeoName could not be located in the dynamic link library

C:\Users\POS\AppData\Local\Microsoft\OneDrive\Update\OneDirveSetup.exe.

Any idea why this has started happening? Was it maybe a Windows update?

Thanks

Kyle

I just wanted to point out that this is also happening on Windows Server 2016: Version 1607 (OS Build 14393.6709).

"Upgrade Windows" isn't really going to be practical. I suspect the updater was changed without testing on older windows versions.

I think what people are looking for though is a way to cleanup things so that that OneDriveSetup doesn't need to be called every time we log in (or maybe it's just first login after a reboot - I haven't paid that much attention).

    EDIT:
It looks like you can just disable the Scheduled Task that has the name that starts with "OneDrive Standalone Update Task". Would probably need to watch for updates to see how to get to the next version when it comes out.

Further testing I am getting the error on our windows 10 IOT Version 1607 LTSB terminals.

The issue is that the update for onedrive is attempting to make a call to GetUserDefaultGeoName that did not get added to into until windows 10 version 1709. Hence the error.

Can you elaborate on how to disable?

    1. Open Run box (Windows key + R)
    2. Type taskschd.msc and hit enter
    3. Select the folder on left side panel "Task Scheduler Library"
    4. Look for any tasks in the right panel labeled "OneDrive Standalone Update Task..."
    5. Right-click and disable it/them.

Win10 includes OneDrive but with a capacity only of 5Gb, then there is OneDrive as a component of O365

The 'setup.exe' is onedrive setup that some one has installed, or tried to, its not a win update

Ok, what if I have Version 1607 of Windows 10?

Does this mean that OneDrive will continue to show me this error message and there is nothing we could do? Upgrading windows just for this fix is "too much" in my perspective.

Making OneDrive Compatible seems more fair.
