BSOD SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION ntoskrnl.exe+4177f0

Hello,

I'm currently using Windows 11 Home on a brand new laptop, which I've had for only four months. Lately, I've been experiencing frequent BSOD (Blue Screen of Death) occurrences everytime with different error codes, all pointing to ntoskrnl.exe. Interestingly, these crashes tend to happen randomly, particularly when I'm browsing YouTube or Facebook using the Brave browser.

Here are my laptop specifications:

  • Lenovo Ideapad Gaming 3 15ACH6
  • AMD Ryzen 5 5600H with AMD Vega integrated graphics (512MB VRAM)
  • 16GB RAM DDR4 3200
  • 512GB Samsung SSD
  • Nvidia RTX 3050TI (4GB VRAM)

The latest incident happened while I was watching YouTube. The system froze, followed by a BSOD with the error message "SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION ntoskrnl.exe". It's worth noting that these BSOD occurrences exclusively happen during browsing sessions and never while gaming.

I'm eager to find a solution to this issue and I'm considering reaching out to Microsoft support for assistance.

Thank you.

If you have updated the minidump files inside the provided link, the new minidump files indicate mtkbtfilterx.sys which is related to the MediaTek Bluetooth Adapter driver.

Please update that driver from the manufacturer's official website.

After that, check to see if your computer is stable.

    Please keep me posted.

I removed the old MediaTek driver and installed the latest driver from the Lenovo website. After using my PC for two days, I haven't encountered any BSODs. Thank you, it worked! I plan to continue using my PC daily this month, and if I run into any issues, I'll be sure to provide feedback.

    Thanks for your assistance!

When I followed the driver verifier steps, the error PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA appeared three times. The first two times, there was screen flickering after I started the game "The Evil Within." The third time, the error occurred without any screen flickering. This third instance happened after I updated my Nvidia driver and clicked on "Restart" to apply the changes.

And after disabling the driver verifier and clicking "restart" in the Start menu, a new BSOD appeared with the error MEMORY_MANAGEMENT.

    Hello Dyari,

I encountered another BSODs with the code CRITICAL_PROCESS_DIED and PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA (I've updated the same minidump drive link with the new files).

There's no overclocking on my laptop, and even the overclock option in the Lenovo Vantage app is disabled, even in performance mode.

I've also switched from high-performance mode to balanced mode in the Windows power settings. I couldn't find any XMP setting in the BIOS.

I plan to try the driver verifier and will provide you with feedback after.

    Best regards,

    Hi khalil,

I'm Dyari. Thanks for reaching out. I will be happy to assist you in this regard.

The minidump files did not name any driver, only pointing to ntkrnlmp.exe, a Windows component. This means that a different factor led to the system error or it could be a memory corruption that usually happens due to incompatible drivers.

To troubleshoot this issue, kindly try the steps below ( Skip a step that you have already tried):

If you are overclocking your PC, try running everything (CPU, GPU, system memory) at their stock speeds. See if the issue is still reproducible. Or, turn off XMP profile or set it to Auto.

Download then install the latest version of BIOS & Chipset drivers from the manufacturer's website.

If the issue persists, enable the driver verifier and let the computer crash 3 times then disable it and share the newly created minidump file:

Please do not hesitate to ask if you need further assistance.
