Hello,
After the initial reboot, you need to remove the USB stick and let the computer boot normally.
If the motherboard implements UEFI properly, you do not need to remove it, but not every motherboard does do.
This browser is no longer supported.
Upgrade to Microsoft Edge to take advantage of the latest features, security updates, and technical support.
i am getting frequent (multiple times a day) window error on a Green Screen - Your Window Insider Build ran into a problem and needs to restart.
I would like to quit getting updated but when I go to the windows inside program settings the settings are greyed out so I can't change them from Dev to beta or release preview.
I can't turn off "unenroll this device when the next version of windows releases" as that is greyed out.
Is my only option a fresh install of windows??? Hate to go through that but this is very buggy

Hello,
Thank you for using Microsoft products and posting to the community.
Since you have mentioned that you are using the Dev version of Windows, there is currently no way to return to the stable version other than performing a clean reinstallation. The Dev version is very unstable and not fully tested, thus it can be buggy.
Please back up all your personal files to offline storage (like USB sticks, external hard drives, and memory cards), then prepare a USB stick that is at least 8 GB in size (do not use the one with backups since it will be erased).
To perform a clean reinstallation, you need to access this page on another computer, log in, and select "leave the program now". Then, download and run the Windows 11 Media Creation tool. Follow the instructions, and select "USB stick" when being asked about the media type, and select the drive letter the USB stick is in.
After creating the installation media, please plug the USB stick to your computer, and boot from it in UEFI mode. The exact procedure differs among motherboard manufacturers, so please refer to the user manual for details.
After booting up, select "Install now". Follow the instructions, and when selecting the installation type, select "Custom: Install Windows only". On the next partitioning screen, please delete all the partitions in the system disk (including EFI, reserved, and recovery ones), select the unallocated space, and select "Next". The installer will partition the system disk automatically.
Please refer to the "Clean install of Windows 11 using installation media" section of this support article for details.
Disclaimer: At this point, we have exhausted all troubleshooting and I recommend that we try to perform a clean install to get your computer back into a working condition. Please ensure that you backup any important data, including Documents, Pictures, Videos, and more.
Thanks for your patience and understanding.

Hello,
When you joined the Insider program, you can choose one of the "Channel" you are following. You can change the channel or leave the Insider program without data loss only if it is in the "Beta" or "Release preview" channel.
New changes to the system are pushed in the following order:
"Canary" -> "Dev" -> "Beta" -> "Release preview" -> Regular versions
The first 2 channels are highly unstable with features that have known bugs, so you should not use them unless you need the absolute cutting-edge features and can accept data loss. They are not compatible with regular versions of Windows, and the only way to revert is to leave the Insider program and reinstall.
Hello,
Thanks for marking my reply as answer.

Thank you for your detailed response. I will go ahead and do a reinstall. However, I am wondering how it even installed the developer version. I am not a developer. I would have been an early adapter. So I would not have chosen developer as an installation option. Any clues? Not that it's gonna help me at this point.
