Recently I notice there's a particular Windows update Windows update KB5001716 2023-10 Update for Windows 10 Version 22H2 could not install.
I am not sure is this update push down by mistake or as on several PCs I had, this update will not go through.
So it is definetely not a storage nor Windows issue but either this KB is push down wrongly or push down in wrong year.

As usually to my understanding the update will go by year, PCs I had some are freshly installed Windows so I quite
confuse why a last year update was push down?

This reply shows you did not read the original post. I have the exact same problem. Let's review the facts, shall we.

    1. 2023-10 update for windows 10 version 22h2 (kb5001716) installed correctly on 10/4/2023
    2. 2024-03 update for windows 10 version 22h2 (kb5001716) installed correctly on 3/6/2024
    3. 2023-10 update for windows 10 version 22h2 (kb5001716) has now showed up again on 3/7/2024 and is trying to reinstall

Please notice the dates at the beginning of update so you do not make the same mistake twice. The original update did have install issues as well and everyone had to perform drive size changes to get it to install. Obviously, this update is to fix that issue but did not take into account the old update.

This is a Microsoft error that needs to be corrected. This is not an isolated instance, as I have multiple computers that have the same issue. This is another example of Microsoft not performing proper QA before rolling something out.

My recommendation for anyone seeing this is to IGNORE THIS UPDATE. Let it fail until Microsoft sees fit to remove it.

I guess no one reads. I have done all of this and it kept coming back. Now it no longer tries to reinstall, which means Microsoft removed the October update from the install list.

Thank you for backing up my post, this update is definetely a backdate update not sure why MS update is pushing it down
to every PC. I have several PCs here all have error trying to install that KB while in fact it is already installed.

This specific update has been a thorn since they first released it. It originally had problems with PCs using bitlocker, so to get it to install, you had to adjust the Recovery drive size. Now they supposedly fix that by replacing the earlier install but my assumption is they did not remove it from the install list. So, now it is trying to reinstall the earlier one.
