My brightness function key is not working...all the other keys are work even this also but it doesnt change the brightness....it remains the same

My brightness function key is not working...all the other keys are working...even that one is also working but when i press it...the brightness bar would go only one point up or down not more than that(but the brighntess lvl remains same even on one point up or down) please help

    What works for me:

    In Device Manager -> Keyboards -> Standard PS/2 Keyboard, right click to uninstall, then reboot. The driver will be reinstalled automatically and then the brightness keys are working fine.

    Looks like it's more of a keyboard driver issue rather than a glitch of graphics card or monitor.

    Are there any recent changes on your computer prior to the issue? Let's try to perform the troubleshooting methods below and check if any of the resolves fixes the issue.

    Method 1: Check for Windows Update.

    1. Press Windows key + I to open settings.
    2. Click Windows Update.
    3. Click the Check for update button and install all available updates.

    Method 2: Update Driver

    1. Open run box by pressing Windows Key + R and type devmgmt.msc then hit enter
    2. Locate and expand Display adapters
    3. Right-click on the driver and select Update driver
    4. Select Search automatically for drivers
    5. Wait for the process to complete, once completed, restart your computer and check if it resolves your issue.

    Method 3: Roll-back driver

    1. Open run box by pressing Windows Key + R and type devmgmt.msc then hit enter
    2. Locate and expand Display adapters
    3. Right-click on the driver and select Update driver
    4. Select Browse my computer for drivers
    5. Select Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer
    6. Select any older driver from the list and click next
    7. Wait for the process to complete, once completed, restart your computer and check if it resolves your issue.

    Hi! I tried everything here but I'm having the same issue. I even downloaded a previous driver and then updated it again just to double-check but my brightness up (f5) still does nothing. My brightness down button however, can work fine.

    mine didn't work. It keep bringing out this prompt about hp Hotkey Support with a blank body and a cancel button. It is not working at all.
