Hi, Amandiell
Welcome to the Microsoft Community.
Sudden shutdowns on a laptop can be caused by various factors. Here are a few possible reasons for your laptop shutting down unexpectedly:
- Battery Issues: While changing the battery didn't solve the problem for others, it's still worth considering. Faulty batteries can cause unexpected shutdowns. If you have access to a spare battery, test your laptop with it to see if the issue persists.
- Driver or Software Issues: Outdated or incompatible drivers or software can sometimes cause unexpected shutdowns. Ensure that all your drivers and important software are up to date. You can visit the manufacturer's website to check for updates.
- Operating System Issues: In some cases, issues with the operating system itself can lead to unexpected shutdowns. Consider performing a system scan using the built-in Windows tools like SFC (System File Checker) or DISM (Deployment Image Servicing and Management) to check for any corrupted system files.
- Search for CMD, find the command prompt and select Run as administrator.
- Enter the following commands one at a time, making sure to complete the previous command before executing the next one.
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth SFC /Scannow
In addition to this, you can keep an eye on the Event Viewer to see if it is recording any abnormal events, which will help in analyzing the problem of dropping power too quickly. In the meantime, you can refer to the approach mentioned in the article below to see if it applies to your situation:
