Hi folks. I had the same problem in an aging, 2nd-hand ex-corporate PC circa 2010 (HP 9000 or something like that) - machine runs Win-10 fine, but it's been slow as an old dog in recent months. I tried all sorts of forums including Microsoft, thinking how hard can it be to find a stock standard driver from various websites - I trawled HP and Intel and followed a number of "sure fire" ways of fixing it, but, apart from the frustrating waste of time, all to no avail.
Finally I downloaded this nifty free utility and within about 10 min problem was fixed, without me requiring to do anything "technical". It also found five outdated drivers and updated those as well (I'm talking seriously outdated - 2006!!!) Now I'm not doing a plug for this company but if you've reached "despair point", can't hurt to give it a go. Driver Booster 12 Free: Official Free Driver Updater Tool for Windows 2024
It also has a few other things like system cleaning and "performance optimization", like CC cleaner and others, but for driver management it's ace. You get a lot of "upgrade to paid" messages but that's pretty standard in a freebie. You can leave it installed and set it up to check periodically for out of date drivers, or you can do what I did - just uninstall it once the drivers are updated. I had no issues with my virus scan. There are other similar ones out there, so check the "10 best free driver update apps" sites for other options.
Hope this helps someone else.
