Windows showing multiple duplicate audio devices

I have a DELL laptop, I understand that it has a built-in speaker but outside of that I don't think anything, I also have headphones and a television that has a speaker.

What surprises me is that duplicate audio devices will appear and sometimes they work and sometimes they don't and it depends on which one I use (for example when using headphones sometimes realtek doesnt work and i need to switch to high definition audio device). When I select which audio device I want to use, all these options appear (the devices are in spanish altavoces=speakers auriculares=headphones):

  1. AOC 23 (3-HD Audio Controller for Display Audio)
  2. Altavoces (Realtek(R) Audio)
  3. Altavoces High Definition Audio Device
  4. AOC 23 (HD Audio Controller for Display Audio)
  5. Auriculares (high definition audio device)
  6. Auriculares (Realtek(R) Audio)

And that's why I don't know if it's a drivers issue since in Device Manager "Sound, video and game controllers" many options appeared (dispositvo=device):

  1. DIspositivo de High Definition Audio.
  2. HD Audio Driver for Display Audio.
  3. HD Audio Driver for Display Audio.
  4. HD Audio Driver for Display Audio.
  5. HD Audio Driver for Display Audio.
  6. Intel® Smart Sound Technology for USB Audio.
  7. Realtek(R) Audio.
I don't know if I know the best but it occurred to me to simply delete all the audio drivers and leave only the realtek one, but I'm afraid that the audio on my computer and my connected devices will stop working, because It is better for it to work poorly than not to work at all.

    Hi lorextreme,

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

Based on the information you provided, we tried to retrieve some similar cases.

In the similar case, the original originator of the thread encountered problems related to NVIDIA High Definition Audio and eventually used a tool that cleaned up the driver to ameliorate the problem in his device environment. The original thread starter speculated that the driver might be the main factor in the device duplication.

The tool used by the customer had been mentioned on other vendors' websites.

Some of the content in this thread mentions tips related to the use of DDU tools.

Disclaimer*: Please back up all your important data before performing it.*

In addition, would you mind sharing more information about this issue with us?

    • Is the problem a recent phenomenon? Or has it existed for a long time?
    • Were there any special events in the device before the problem occurred? For example, system update, driver update, application update, BIOS update?

If I misunderstand your situation, feel free to correct me and share the information.

    Best Regards,
