I'm facing an issue with an unexpected restart which occurs irregularly.

I have three Windows Server 2019 Standard (licensed) running on a Hyper-V Server 2019.
The servers were installed with evaluation edition, I've upgraded it afterwards to the standard version with the dism command.

The host doesn't have this issue in the event log. The error doesn't occur at the same time on all VMs, that's why I think it doesn't revolve around the host and more about the OS.

I also have a second host. The VMs there are facing the same issue, but significantly less often.

I'd gladly appreciate any kind of help!

    Hello @Van Quach

This error is due to a request for turn-off or restart. I would recommend to check on:

    • Software that can control power under certain status like high temperature of the processor
    • Faulty PSU: wrong power supply can indicate the system to shut down or restart to protect the components
    • External hardware such as UPS units can send restart or shutdown requests in case of some specific AC limitations
    • BIOS Settings can also force a request for shutdown-restart (you can try to save your BIOS profile and set a "Default" profile)

Last but not least, would like to mention the strange case of the faulty case or motherboard. In some cases, after all troubleshooting was done, it was found that:A) Some thermal sensors were not working correctly and thus causing the shutdown request
    B) Some server computer cases have sensors to force shutdown in case the computer case is opened (case-open faulty sensors)
    C) Power button damage: some flimsy power buttons, or bad contacts on motherboard pins can actionate without any intetraction thus requesting the shutdown - you can try disconnecting the power/reset buttons from the motherboard pins.

Hope this helps with your query,

Please run the DM log collector and post a share link into this thread using one drive, drop box, or google drive.

If the server can run the V2 log collector that will have additional logs for troubleshooting.

    VanQuach-9389,

LapushinMaxim-5626 is using Windows Server 2019 Standard 64-bit (10.0, Build 17763) (17763.rs5_release.180914-1434) and was able to run each V2 and DM.

Each server typically can run DM.
(if it does not run on your computer please comment into the thread)
V2 may or may not be related to the net framework version.
