Unable to record audio on powerpoint and microphone is unresponsive. Dell inspiron 15 5501

Someone please help. I have a powerpoint I have to turn in for a class that I can't record any audio on. It says powerpoint cannot perform this operation because the recording device is unavailable. I've tried going into my settings and allowing access but even testing my microphone it says the output is zero. I've tried using wire in headphones and using a microphone to plug into my computer as well. I just really need to submit this powerpoint. I don't know what else to do. My driver is up to date.

I'm having a problem with sound when usingPowerPoint, it doesn't playback. Your suggestion to go to Settings, Privacy, Microphone, let apps use my microprocessor and then toggle PowerPoint isn't relevant, PowerPoint isn't listed

    Can you help?

    Thanks, Carol

Hello! I'm Jen, and I'd be happy to help you out with this issue.

I’m sorry to hear you’re experiencing this issue. Please make sure you have enabled the option to allow Microphone access to Powerpoint. To check, go to Settings > Privacy & security > Under App permissions, select “Microphone” > Switch on "Microphone access". Under “Let apps access your Microphone” section, toggle on the switch for Powerpoint.

If the problem persists, try to run the “Recording Audio” troubleshooter and see if it fixes the issue. Open Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters > Run the troubleshooter for “Recording Audio”. Relaunch Powerpoint to check the result. Let me know how it goes. Thank you.

I hope this information helps. If you have any questions, please let me know and I'll be glad to assist you further.

    Best Regards!

    Jen :)

I have Norton Security and when it is installed, it prevents me from accessing the audio and webcam feature in my Power Point. I have not been able to figure out how to get around this without actually uninstalling Norton, finishing my PP, and then re-installing it.
