Transferring Windows 10 to Windows 11? (Google Translate)

Hi.

A new laptop is needed, but new computers all have Windows 11 on them.

All my Windows 10 programs, data and settings should move to W11.

So how can I easily move all my data?

Is there anything free?

There should be something from MS, but I can't find anything.

If a Windows 10 system update goes to 11, then there will probably also be a simple data transfer, i.e. IMPORT.

That's at least what you should expect.

Or would it only be possible to completely transfer W10 to the new PC and then carry out an update to W11?

What's the easiest way to do this?

So far I'm disappointed with MS's lack of options.

Thanks.

This is really a poor solution involving the user uploading to the cloud or a external drive a downloading/copying to the new unit again.

Surely with a link cable or "crossover" ethernet cable we should be able to MIGRATE ALL Data, User Profiles, Settings, Programs/Apps etc. from Windows 10 to Windows 11...?

How do large companies do it with MANY PC's/Laptops ?

    Good Day,

I'm new to forums and unsure if protocol says I should open a new comment, attach to this one, or whatever. But here I am.

I need to xfer my old computer whose core is succumbing to neurodegeneration. The new W11 system tells me I need to xfer my old system, apps and all, to the new one. Be that as it may, on the old W10 system, I am encouraged to find that I can indeed back it up, apps and all, to the cloud and, ostensibly, then rain it down on the new computer. I uploaded three screen shots that lead me to believe this (I expected them to embed in my text. I hope my referring to them makes sense).

The first image says I can do this - I started "Windows Backup" from the search box and saw what you see in the second image. I hit "Back up", signed into my MS account when the dialog was presented, and I saw after a while what you see in the third image. This same screen is still up on my display two days later (hung up or running very slowly?). I still haven't been in my new computer after a week of this and the number of BSOD's per day on the old computer is making any serious use of it scary.

    1. If the apps, settings, etc. are backed up as indicated by Windows Backup, where are they? I looked in the OneDrive folders for every user on my system and in my MS account - nothing.
    2. Why is it hanging on backing file folders? I am using the 5GB storage available in my account; thinking that I was asking to back up too much data, and not knowing how Backup selects folders, I pared the list of folders in Settings -> Files backup -> More options down to several hundred MB of stuff.
    3. I signed into my MS account for the backup process, but wasn't asked to sign into OneDrive. Is that necessary? I don't see a OneDrive daemon running in the Task Manager listing - is that a problem?

The fourth image is a snap of my problematic old system's level.

Thank you for your consideration. And I apologize for the somewhat snarky problem statement - I just want to use my new computer (and I'm grateful the old one, from which I've sent this note, has not BSOD'ed).

    Hi Clemens,

I'm Dyari. Thanks for reaching out. I will be happy to assist you in this regard.

I am afraid that there is no direct way to transfer your data and installed applications from your Windows 10 PC to the new Windows 11 PC.

The recommended way is to transfer your data through an External drive or cloud storage like OneDrive manually and then reinstall all applications you have. (Make sure all applications are compatible with Windows 11).

There is another way that may not work but you can try.

Clone your Windows 10 PC with the Macruim Reflcet. Then use the clone on your new PC. After that upgrade the Windows 10 to Windows 11. You may need a new license depending on the Windows edition.
