Brother scanner not working on Windows 11 Pro

I got a new computer running on Windows Pro 11, 64-bit (previously had Windows Home 10). I set up my Brother printer/scanner on the new desktop, but the scanner does not communicate with the computer. Brother does not make compatible drivers with Windows 11.

I received an error when I told Microsoft to download drivers. Then I read I needed to turn off memory integrity through core isolation which I did and the scanner still no longer works. I have the MFC-7840W. I can open the Microsoft utility and then it will tell the printer to scan, but only as a jpeg after a few steps.

I want the old setup of standing by my scanner, putting the document in the feed, and simply pressing scan to file and it appears on my computer in the scan folder. Is this no longer possible???

    I have the same issue with the MFC-7820N, I can print but I cannot scan.

    Personally, I think that it's very sad that Brother is no longer supporting their older printers/scanners and no longer releasing drivers for Windows 11.

    The only way to continue scanning in Windows 11 is to purchase VueScan at: https://www.hamrick.com/purchase-vuescan.html

    They have a trial version but any document that you scan will have a huge watermark across it that reads: "Buy VueScan now! www.hamrick.com"

    Just as an aside, have you tried NAPS2? https://www.naps2.com
    I've used it for years, and it just so happens to work as a solution to a Brother scanning problem similar to what everyone's experiencing here too.

    I had the same issue with MFC-8860DN and now resolved it partly.

    From the Brother download site for MFC-8860DN Win 7 x64 I downloaded and executed

    * Uninstall Tool

    * Printer Driver & Scanner Driver for Local Connection

    After that, the scanner works via USB and the WIA Driver with

    * NAPS2 (free, see above)

    * Microsoft Office Document Imaging

    * Control Center 3 (be careful to select the USB connected scanner, if the scanner was previously installed via LAN, it may still be in the dropdown list in the upper left corner of CC3)

    With VueScan, it also works via LAN (tested with the free version), but to get rid of the watermark I would have to spend 49 EUR.

    The printer Manufacturer should support for Windows 11. But you should use Windows 10 to use a Brother printer.

    Or else upgrade to the new printer which supports Windows 11.

    That model Brother does not support Win11, it only has win 10 drivers, and whether if you install the full feature software from that maker for win10 it would then function, I couldnt say, maybe ask in that makers forums

    As it is you are using the built in win drivers
