My computer was running fine any game was running smoothly and no problem. Then one day I updated to (KB5034467) when i did this all of a sudden my game wouldn't run so the day after I uninstalled said update and the game worked fine for a solid 12 hours after this I logged on the next day and the update (2024-02 Cumulative Update for .NET Framework 3.5 and 4.8.1 for Windows 11, version 23H2 for x64 (KB5034467)) after this I was getting multiple different errors such as "Rustclient.exe not found" even though the game was installed and I've reverified the files a million times and than today I'm getting the Easy Anti-Cheat untrusted system file error and I've uninstalled and reinstalled the game and easy anti cheat multiple times its not just one game it started with one game while others could run even though they both used easy anti cheat none can run now. Its like a new error every day so I'm not sure what I should do. I've run the pc in safe mode and I have clean booted the pc as well the other day I ran rust and it booted okay but would only be able to run 2-3 fps. In conclusion new error every day and no end in sight any help or suggestions is appreciated

    Hi, Carson R 2525

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

Through your description, we understand that you are experiencing the EAC problem after updating Windows, firstly make sure that your game files are all up-to-date, next we suggest you can perform the following actions:

    1. Check for system updates

Make sure you have installed all the update files, check in Start Menu Search Settings> Windows Update.

    1. Install the latest Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables

You can download the latest components and install them by clicking this link:

Latest supported Visual C++ Redistributable downloads | Microsoft Learn

    1. Use the Repair function

Type 'cmd' in the start menu search bar, right click command prompt > run as administrator

In the window that opens type sfc /scannow (please note the space in between)

    1. Manage protection software

The steps to add trusted software (also known as whitelisting) in Windows Defender are as follows:

Open the Windows Defender Security Centre: You can open it by clicking on the Windows Defender antivirus icon in the taskbar or by searching for "Windows Defender Security Centre" in the Start menu.

Select "Virus and Threat Protection": In the Windows Defender Security Centre, select the "Virus and Threat Protection" tab.

Click on "Virus and Threat Protection Settings": On the "Virus and Threat Protection" page, find "Virus and Threat Protection Settings" and click on it.

Add trusted software: On the Virus and Threat Protection Settings page, scroll down to the Controlled Folder Access section and click Controlled Folder Access Settings.

Adding trusted software: On the Controlled folder access settings screen, locate the Allow applications to access protected folders section and click Add an allowed application.

Select Add Easy anti-cheat: In the pop-up window, browse and select Easy anti-cheat to add the application to the list of trusted software. After selecting the application, click "Open".

If you are using other third-party protection software, you will need to add it yourself.

    1. Try to enable clean boot:

Try to enable clean boot as follows

    1. Tap Windows+R and type msconfig.
    2. Open System Configuration and select General tab - Selective Boot.
    3. Remove the tick from Load Startup Items.
    4. Go to the Services tab - click Hide all microsoft services in the bottom left corner, and then click Disable all (except Easy anti-cheat programme).
    5. Click OK and restart your computer. (Be sure to select Hide all Microsoft services first and then click Disable all, otherwise it may lead to unforeseen problems such as not being able to access the system.)

See if the problem still recurs.

NOTE: Clean boot is a way to start Windows with a minimal set of drivers and startup programs so that you can determine if background programs are interfering with your games or programs and to help you figure out the cause of the problem. It will help you get back on track.

Disclaimer: A “clean boot” starts Windows with a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. It helps to determine whether a background service is interfering with your game or program and to isolate the cause of a problem.    These steps of "clean boot" might look complicated at first glance. However, to avoid any trouble for you, please follow them in order and step-by step so that it will help you get back on track.

    Sincerely
