Hello for the past week or so I keep seeing VmmemWsa And Vmmem in task manager taking up oneof the 5 top spots for memory usage> Loooking around it seem like it is used for virtual machines and with a program like docker but I do not have or ever did have a virtual machine installed. Is there any other reason why this might be hogging my memory? Also I cannot close the process using task manager for some reason.

i hope its not malware or something.

Hi, I'm Robinson, and I’m happy to help you today.

Do you use Hyper-V, WSL (Windows Subsystem for Linux), or Windows Subsystem for Android?

If you use one of these functions, this is what is using the Vmmem process. All these functions run as a virtual machine.

If you don't use any of these functions, a third-party app could be using the Vmmem process. You can try to perform a clean boot and check if the problem will persist. You can see at this link how to perform a clean boot.

I hope this information helps. If you have any questions or the problem persists, please let me know and I'll be glad to assist you further.
