How to enable readyboost

Hello! i have bought a 256 GB USB 3.2 to ReadyBoost it. my computer has 8 Gb of ram. I want to know how i can force it to enable ReadyBoost. I know 8 Gb is higher and it will lower the speeds but i just need you to answer the question please. When I'm in the properties tab, it doesn't show me the option to ready boost the USB. i formatted it multiple times.

    Hi,

    is your drive SSD or HDD? ReadyBoost is useless if one has an SSD.

    And please note, ReadyBoost management is deleted from Windows 11

    Run Task manager, go to Performance tab, select Disk C at the left. You'll see the drive's model at upper right corner. If needed, search Internet for model description.

    But if your tab isn't showing up. It is more likely that it is a driver compatibility issues. Please do also check your BIOS, ensure that USB support is enabled and configured properly.

    Hi Joe-Fghy, I hope your doing well despite the problem you are experiencing now and I'm sorry for that. For that let me try to assist you.

    Incase you are unable to access ReadyBoost tab in the properties, it is possible that it is not supported in that particular drive or other factors may affect it. Please check if the formatted drive uses NTFS or Fat32 file system. The minimum space for ReadyBoost is 256mb, please make sure that the space is free as it is already in the minimum requirements. You can also check if there is a security software in your device as it may flag it as security risk such as anti virus software, end point security, malware tools and others.

    Hi, I understand all the options you have put forward above, but notice that the sysmain.exe process continues to run in the background and therefore the ReadyBoost service is itself active as well.

    This must mean that ReadyBoost is active in windows 11.

    Speaking from a dev standpoint , I would like to access the management tab through either the file explorer gui or command line access if such a function even exists.

    I have been trying various methods and it would seem that although the service is able to regulate the usage of the internal HDD, my ability to manage the usage of external devices has been removed completely from Windows 11?

    Any help you could provide would be greatly appreciated.
