Trying to change Wi Fi Adapter properties to improve speed.

I have reently uodated to full fibre and the new router properties shows it’ Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac)  5 GHz.

My chrome book is getting speeds of 700mbs but the laptop is only getting around 180mbs. I expected it to be slower, I have a lot more apps on the laptop but I expected to see around 300mbs.  

My adapter is a Realtek 8822CE wireless Lan 8021 11ac PCI- E NIC. The properties advanced tab show the settings to be 801 11g and the value set to Enabled. I tried to change it to Wireless mode lEEE 802.11a/n/ac but it always reverts to the original setting. I bought a dongle but the only shows a small improvement to around 190mbs. The properties in the advanced tab for the dongle are set to 2.4G Wirelessmode and 801.11b g/n/ax and again can’t be changed.

 Is it possible alter these settings?
