Rename Shortcut Setting Modification

The windows rename shortcut setting is changed: For example, the rename shortcut is M, but you want to change it to F2 to rename a file or folder. Currently, folders can be renamed with the F2 shortcut, but the shortcut for desktop files is not F2, so I would like to change it to the unified F2 key.

    Hello, Carll Lee

    Welcome to the Microsoft community.

Thank you for your feedback. I understand that you want to know about shortcuts, you can try to use powertoys, please refer to the following link for details on how to use it:

PowerToys PowerRename utility for Windows | Microsoft Learn

You can refer to the following steps:

Make sure you have PowerToys installed. if not, you can go to the official Microsoft website or GitHub page to download and install it.

    Open PowerToys.

Navigate to the "Keyboard Manager" option.

In the Keyboard Manager, you can find existing shortcut key mappings, as well as the option to add new mappings.

To change or add a new shortcut mapping, click "Add Rule" or "Add Shortcut".

In the pop-up window, select "Rename" for the shortcut you want to modify, or simply find the "Rename" function in the desktop environment.

Enter the new shortcut key you want to use, such as "F2".

Click "OK" or "Save" to apply the changes.

Please note that changing system-level shortcuts may affect the behavior of other programs, so caution should be exercised when making such changes. If you are not familiar with PowerToys or Keyboard Manager, it is recommended that you do some research or check the official documentation before making any changes.

Please let me know if you have any other questions or if I haven't explained something clearly.

    Best Regards,
