Windows RE image not found after resizing recovery partition

Hey I was having trouble with one of the most recent Windows updates, so I looked online to find some solutions. I found that I needed to increase my recovery partition so I followed a video guide on youtube to do that using both cmd admin prompts and the minitool partition wizard. When I finished and checked to enable the WinRe it said The Windows RE image was not found. I think somehow the winre.wim got deleted because now my recovery folder has a ReAgent and ReAgent_merged file without the winre.wim. From some of the potential solutions I found online, I think I have to use the Window Media Creation Tool but I don't really know. This is really the first time I messed with the command prompt but I heard that it was the only way to fix the update. EDIT: In my disk management I can see I successfully expanded the recovery partition file but I just can't enable WinRE.

C:\WINDOWS\system32>reagentc /enable

REAGENTC.EXE: The Windows RE image was not found.

    Hello:

This video was more clear for me. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-j6W47FZY74 If you have an usb with the win10 install program, you can skip the step for download de media creator and make the .iso file.

But, when I finished to fix the reagentc error, the /info switch shows me that winRE was an incorrect destination. So I started again

    with

    reagentc /disable

and delete again the winre partition, create again, format it and enable again the reagentc.

At the end of all this, the windows update ended succesfully with the jan 2024 update.

I'm trying your fix and everything works until I get to the command prompt. It brings up the directory x:\sources. I try to input the command you specified:

"Enter the following command at the command prompt to restore the Windows RE image:

    reagentc /setreimage /path D:\Recovery\WindowsRE"

It doesn't recognize the command reagentc. If I change directory to something else, it still doesn't recognize reagentc. Can you help?

    Hello, Matthew McK

    Welcome to the Microsoft community.

Hello, sorry to hear about your problem, you lost the recovery image when you adjusted the recovery partition.

Thank you for your feedback, you can first try to recreate the Windows installation media using the Windows Media Creation Tool:

    1. Download and run the Windows Media Creation Tool to create an installation USB flash drive or CD containing the latest Windows updates.

    Download Windows 10 (microsoft.com)

When running the Windows Media Creation Tool, make sure to select the option that matches your currently installed version of Windows and system configuration.

    1. Restore the Windows RE image from the Windows installation media:

Insert the newly created Windows installation USB flash drive or CD into your computer and restart your computer.

At startup, follow the prompts to enter BIOS setup or the boot menu and choose to boot from the USB flash drive or CD-ROM.

On the Windows installation screen, select Repair Your Computer > Advanced Options > Command Prompt.

Enter the following command at the command prompt to restore the Windows RE image:

    reagentc /setreimage /path D:\Recovery\WindowsRE

Where D:\ is the drive letter where you placed your Windows installation media, please adjust accordingly.

    1. Re-enable Windows RE:

Re-enable Windows RE by entering the following command at the command prompt:

    reagentc /enable

You can first try to repair the recovery image by the above methods, if you still can't fix it please let us know and we will provide you with further support.

Thank you for your time and effort to work on this topic.

    Best wishes
