Graphic Card replaced by windows update

While using my laptop, I unexpectedly noticed a decline in performance. To address this, I restarted my laptop, only to encounter an error message in AMD software stating, "Windows Update may have automatically replaced your AMD Graphics driver. Hence, the version of AMD Software you have launched is not compatible with your currently installed AMD Graphics driver."

I've attempted to resolve this issue by reinstalling the AMD software and by uninstalling and reinstalling the device through Device Manager. However, the problem persists. Furthermore, the GPU does not appear in my Task Manager. Here's what is displayed in my Device Manager.

Thank you for your assistance. Following another forum's advice on my Windows update issue, I attempted a repair installation, which effectively resolved both the Windows update issue and the graphics card problem.

At the end repair installing windows fixed the problem.

You can stop installing drivers through windows update,by adding registry key.

Then you can install drivers manually as your wishes.

Note : By adding registry key, here after windows update will stop downloading all the drivers.

This should not be the case - it should work in the same way as I do not think AMD updates the GPU drivers for your model very often. Can you try once and let me know?

I came across a tutorial suggesting the use of DDU to uninstall the driver, followed by patching it using an AMD/ATI pixel clock patcher. However, I was informed that I would need to repeat the entire process each time I update the driver in the near future. This seemed cumbersome to me, which is why I considered seeking assistance on Microsoft forums instead.

    Hi Bhavya,

I'm Sumit, here to answer your query at the Microsoft Community.

Code 43 can point to a defective GPU.

Use DDU to remove the drivers and see if it helps.

Please see the Display driver troubleshooting below:

Remove the Display drivers completely and Install the newest copy of the driver, available from the OEM or the GPU maker. The steps for it are here:

    https://www.yourwindowsguide.com/2022/02/troubl...

Eventually, after Windows restarts, check for Windows updates, or download the display driver from the computer manufacturer.

Afterwards, the installation, see if your issue is resolved.
