For the third time I have gone to a recording session where no internet was available only to find all my files on f'n Onedrive which I can't access. I want everything off of OD and back on my laptop. I don't ever want to see that little arrow on my desktop icons again! This has cost me money and reputation and I am sick of it! I don't want ANY trace of OD on this laptop. How do I restore everything to the laptop and eliminate OneDrive?

    Hi,

I'm Rodrigo and I'll help you.

Right-click the OneDrive icon on the right side of the taskbar > Settings > Sync and backup > Advanced Settings > Files On-Demand > Download all files.

This will download all your files to the computer.

After downloading all files, on "Sync and backup", select "Manage Backup" > Turn off all options.

This will restore your folders to the default location, but it doesn't move your files.

After turning off the options on "Manage Backup", go to "Account" > Unlink This PC > Unlink account.

Your downloaded files are in the OneDrive folder, located at C:\Users(Your User Name)\OneDrive. After moving the files, you can delete the OneDrive folder and uninstall OneDrive on Settings > Apps > Installed Apps.

I cannot believe the trouble I am having with trying to get some work done on my new PC. First, all of the files were transferred from one drive to my hard drive. Now, they are stuck on one drive. They were supposed to be downloaded twice, once after I bought the computer and again, just this morning. Then, when I try to open a file, it give me an error. Before that, I could not save a file. I got error messages about how there were character errors in my filename. And, it CHANGED the name of the files. I wish I never got Microsoft 365. I wish I never had to get a new computer. This is WAY too much of a pain.

This is a question that the entire world should be asking. What is Microsoft thinking? Do away with EVERYTHING that has ANYTHING at all with One drive and get the world spinning again.

This has been my experience too. I cannot believe that somehow this is "easier" than moving files with a thumb drive.

I am trying to get all of my files back on to my computer and do not wish to use OneDrive. I have followed your recommendations. However, when I choose to download all files, a box appears with the words: "this will use up up to 5.1 GB of space on this PC and includes files currently set to "Free up space" or on-line only. Files download when you're offline and then you can use them offline." I then press "Continue", and nothing occurs. All I see is a folder with the heading "Error". Why is this not working ?
