Hello,

I have a USB to SD card reader for a memory stick from my camera. I am trying to connect it to my computer so I can download the media on it. I have a windows surface pro 7 laptop.

Everytime I connect the USB through the port, nothing shows up on my computer. I have looked through file explorer but it does not show up anywhere. When I go to settings and connected devices the USB shows up there and it says it is connected, but I am unable to find it anywhere so I am unable to open it.

I have tried restarting windows but it has not worked.

Please help!!

    It could be that security management software blocking your card reader from running display on your computer. Some software comes with a USB drive function that automatically blocks unfamiliar USB drives from being inserted into your computer.

    Hi,

    I tried the above, but it did not work. For step 2, there was no yellow mark next to it.

    Any other ideas?

    Hi, AlishbaIN

    Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.

    I understand that your computer recognizes the card reader but cannot read the SD card.

    You could try:

    Observe if the metal area on the card is dull or if there are spots. You can gently remove it with cotton or a face dipped in alcohol or a small amount of water and reinsert it after the water dries.

    Then try:

    1. open the device manager and reinstall the USB driver to make sure the driver is normal.
    2. To update the SD card driver, you can go to Device Manager and then find the card reader in the list. If there is a yellow mark next to it, the SD card reading problem is most likely caused by a driver issue. Then you need to update the driver.

    3, Open Control Panel->Hardware and Sound->Devices and Printers, and remove USB SD Card Reader from the devices;

    4, Unplug the card reader and plug it again.

    Wish you solve the trouble soon!
