    Hi, Judy Zhang1

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

I have deleted your reply as it contains personal and private information.

Regarding your problem, I suggest you try the solution I provided first and if the problem persists, you can try again:

Settings→Time and Language→Language AreaPreferred language under the Chinese (Simplified, China) three dots to the right, click, and then click on the "Language Options", the bottom of the "Microsoft Pinyin", three dots to the right, click, and then click on the Keyboard Options, click on General Click on "Compatibility" at the bottom.

If the input method still doesn't work, you can post a new thread in the Microsoft community (please be careful to protect your private information), and there will be a support specialist there to help you.

I hope that your issue will be handled properly and eventually resolved, and I wish you all the best!

    Sincerely

Nicholas | Microsoft Community Support Specialist

    Hi, kenny kee1

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

We understand that  you’re unable to type Chinese characters in Windows despite having the Chinese language installed, there could be a few reasons for this issue. Here are some steps to troubleshoot and resolve the problem:

    1. Check Language Settings:
      • Press Windows + I to open Settings.
      • Go to > Time & LanguageLanguage
      • Ensure that Traditional Chinese (or Simplified Chinese, depending on your preference) is added and set as one of your languages.
      • Click on the Chinese language and make sure it’s set as the default, if you want to use it all the time, or make sure it’s listed under ‘Preferred languages’.
    2. Add a Chinese Keyboard:
      • In the settings, click on the Chinese language.Language
      • Under , click .OptionsAdd a keyboard
      • Choose the Chinese (Traditional) or Chinese (Simplified) keyboard layout that matches the characters you want to type.
    3. IMF (Input Method Framework) Issues:
      • If the Traditional Chinese IMF is not ready, it could be due to a corrupted language pack or an issue with the IMF itself.
      • Try removing and reinstalling the Chinese language pack:
        • Go to > > > Time & LanguageLanguageChineseOptions
        • Click on Remove and then reinstall it from the option Add a language
      • Ensure that the Chinese Input Method Editor (IME) is installed and selected as the default IME for Chinese.
    4. Run the Troubleshooter:
      • Go to > > > SettingsTime & LanguageLanguageLanguage settings
      • Click on under the ‘Related settings’ section.Troubleshoot
      • Follow the on-screen instructions to run the troubleshooter.

If the above solution does not solve the problem for you, please press Windows+R and type winver to send us your system version so that we can provide you with further assistance.

    Sincerely
