Whenever I go into full screen mode the brightness and volume goes up. How do I stop this from happening?

I've had this problem for about a year now - it's always got on my nerves but it is actually getting worse.
It used to only do it with Netflix - now it does it with Youtube and the other day I opened an image via my documents and it happened.

Every now and again I will look for a way to fix this but despite seeing lots of people ask this question there doesn't seem to be an actual solution.

I have since done a clean install of Windows and this problem still persists.

Once I've went into full screen mode and my brightness and volume has chaned by itself, the only way I can get my monitor settings back to normal is by restarting my computer.

    Hello, Sam Molton

    Welcome to the Microsoft community.

I understand that you are experiencing issues with brightness and volume changing after going to full screen. I suggest you go to your graphics card's website and reinstall your graphics card driver and audio driver. If it is

NVIDIA graphics card, turn off the in-game overlay, battery boost, and WHISPER MODE modes in the NVIDIA GeForce experience software.

If that doesn't solve your problem, it's not a system setup issue since you've already done a system reinstall.

You can submit your problem through the Feedback Hub (if convenient, please provide as much detail as possible, including pictures, repro videos, etc.). Please share the feedback link after submitting.)

Please share the feedback link after submitting, I will submit your feedback to the relevant team for investigation through internal channels.

    Best Regards,

Thank you for your feedback. Your nightlight mode not working is most likely a driver issue, in order to pinpoint your problem, we suggest you uninstall your graphics card driver and see if the problem persists.

Does your display support HDR? It is recommended that you turn it off and see if the problem persists.

Automatic brightness adjustment takes longer than expected on systems with high-dynamic range (HDR) support - Microsoft Support

I look forward to your feedback to help me further understand your issue.

    Best Regards,

    Aaron

Despite my computer meeting all the minimum requirements I am told my computer does NOT meet all the minimum requirements for windows 11.
I don't even want to get into that - just wanted to turn off the function that messes with my screen brightness when I go full screen mode.
I am aware this problem may be unfixable, there has certainly not been any actual solutions I have seen, however, every 5-6 months or so I have a go.

Thank you for your feedback. Have you tried upgrading your system to windows 11?

I've reinstalled the graphics card before to try and fix this problem. It doesn't work.
There's lots of people having this problem and I have tried various solutions I have seen over time - nothing works.

I am pretty sure a Windows update caused this - it also stopped the night light mode working.
I'm amazed there is no solution to this problem after all this time. I am also intrigued about why my screen brightness and volume would change when I go to full screen mode?
