Hi,

I need assistance with how to setup the Microsoft Remote Desktop to be able to connect my tablet to my laptop. The app has been downloaded and I believe I added all the correct information but when I try to connect, the message I get is "Unable to Connect". Not sure what could be the issue and was wondering if I can speak with someone to help me get it set up correctly.

Thank you,

Meraris

    Hi Meraris,

First, please make sure Windows is updated to the latest version. Click Start > Settings > Windows Update > Check for Updates and install any pending updates.

If you have any antivirus software enabled, please turn it off temporarily then try connecting again and see if it works.

Also, did you enable the option to allow remote access to your computer? Go to Settings > System > Select "Allow remote access". Make sure to check "Allow remote connections to this computer" then click OK.

    Regards.

Hello! I'm Jen, and I'd be happy to help you out with this issue.

The Microsoft article on the link below provides a helpful step-by-step guide on how to setup Remote desktop access. Please ensure that the Remote desktop server, or the PC that you are connecting to, needs to be running a Pro edition of Windows. To check if you have the Pro edition, click the Start button > Settings > System > About. On the other hand, the other PC you are connecting from, can be running any edition or a different operating system. Please visit the following pages for full guidelines. Let me know if you need further assistance. Thank you.

Thank you Jen for your help! I do have Windows 10 Pro on my laptop and I went through the steps you provided but I am still getting a message indicating my tablet is unable to connect remotely to the laptop. I'm not sure if there is another step or setup, I need to have on my laptop in order to access it. I was hoping I can speak with someone on the phone at Microsoft but can't seem to get a hold of a live person.
