How do I set Windows Update in Win11 Home so it asks before it installs?

In Win10, I had the option to have the system tell me updates were available, but give me the option whether to install them. I can't find a way to do that on Win11. Is there a way to do this? The last update screwed up my F11 function key, and I had to restore back to before it was installed. I don't want it reinstalled, would rather wait for the next cumulative update when hopefully this problem is fixed.

I did pause updates for 5 weeks, but I'd rather use the "ask first" option.

This was not helpful at all. I doubt you even understood what I posted. Most frustrating to get ridiculous answers like this.

    Hello,

    [Settings] for Windows Update (Recommended)

If you're upgrading from Windows 10, it's recommended to wait until you receive a notification in Windows Update indicating that your device is ready for the upgrade. To check if Windows 11 is available for your device, go to [Start] > [Settings] > [Update & Security] > [Windows Update] > [Check for updates].

You can also check for any known issues that may affect your device at the Windows Release Health Hub.

If it is helpful, could you please select "Yes" about "Was this reply helpful?".

I hope you will solve the problem. And, if you still have problems, feel free to ask us here.

    Best regards,

    Hiroki Terada
