Trojan virus
Hello
2 days ago I was downloading something from Chrome like normal but when I opened the downloaded file my windows defender detected a trojan virus I blocked the threats but today any pictures I have on pc aren't opening up and command panel was opening yesterday. Today I opened reddit and it was filled with +18 content and subreddits I never seen joined to and alot of that +18 content was upvoted so I knew someone loged into my account (guessed it was the trojan horse user) and I quickly went to change my password and removed access from other devices and I already have 2-step authentication and now idk what to do . Should I do anything further for my Google account and what I should do about the trojan virus on my computer honestly I'm thinking of restarting my pc to zero I already have pickup of my stuff but idk if that's helpful here

Try to scan Windows Security and Malwarebytes once more, if you get zero results, you are completely safe.

2024-04-18T18:51:39+00:00 Hello
Apologies for late response.
So I've done everything you told me to so far. I downloaded malwarebytes and did full scan and was shock there was 11 detections all trojan and put all 11 to quarantine and downloaded the eset but needed something about updating and wasn't bothered since malwarebytes already found the issue. Also did the task manager but I didn't understand what you meant with the open process if it's the file name then couldn't find anything (or if you mean virus name I also found nothing).
And for Chrome I already have no extensions at all and don't use edge much.
And lastly for temp files I deleted most of them the rest were skipped.
So far with all this I still can't open pictures says file system error (-2147416359) and it happened after the incident.
And I'm I safe now? Like malwarebytes have 13 free days trial if it ends or I deleted the software will the trojan works again? And same goes for Google account I already changed passwords and signed all devices off even ones I know so how can I know everything is normal again.
Thank you for your help im very sorry to take your time those things come sometimes when we don't expect it at all many Thanks to you hope we done with this issue now.

Let me help you with this issue.
I understand your machine is infected with a trojan virus affecting your photos app and Google Chrome.
Have you tried running a 3rd party scanner?
Please follow the steps below.
Let's try downloading the free version of Malwarebytes, it is a freeware that you can use to scan, detect, and delete viruses like the one you currently have.
You can download the free version from this link
Once installed please make a full scan. You may remove this software once you are done with it.
You can also try an online malware scanner - https://www.eset.com/int/home/online-scanner/
Please also try Microsoft Safety Scanner - https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365...
And follow these additional steps.
Open up the Task Manager by right-clicking the taskbar, on the Task Manager window click on more details below then look for the open process associated with the pop-up, if you can't see it in the process tab go to the details tab and look for that process then if you see right click it and then go to the file location and then once you have located the file delete it.
Remove temp files and unwanted addons/Extensions in Chrome and Edge
For Chrome: Open Google Chrome, click the 3 dots at the top right corner click Settings, then on the left pane click Extensions, on the Extensions page look for anything related to the virus then click Remove.
For new Edge: Open Microsoft Edge, click on the 3 dots at the top right corner then click Extensions, then on the Extensions page, look for any add-ons related to the virus then click Remove.
Uninstall an unwanted application in Programs and features,
Go to start type in Control Panel, then go to Programs and then Programs and Features then go to the list of the programs look for anything unusual or any application that you are not aware right click then uninstall.
Delete Temporary files off Windows 10.
Tap the Windows Key then R on your keyboard, on the Run box type in %temp% then press enter.
Once it is up highlight all then delete, if there is a filé open that can't be deleted just skip it.
Hope this helps.
