Remote Desktop: Can't Connect (Windows 11 to Windows 10)

Computer A is a Windows 10 Pro machine that I have regularly connected to using Remote Desktop for about 5 to 7 years.

Computer B is a new Windows 11 Pro machine.

Computer C is a MacBook running macOS Monterey

Computers A , B and C are on the same network. Computers A , B and C all have IP addresses similar to 192.168.0.xxx - because they are all connected to the same router.

I can remote desktop from computer C (macOS) to computer A (Win10pro) using Microsoft's Remote Desktop application for macOS. I connect Computer C to computer A using RDP constantly with no issues.

When I try to use Windows Remote Desktop to connect to computer A (Win10pro) from computer B (Win11pro) - I am told my credentials are wrong. I've methodically checked all credentials several times - and they seem totally correct.

I'm guessing there might be a setting in Computer B, (Windows 11) that prevents connecting to another computer. But what ? I am at a loss.

    Let's hope that somebody else has a solution because IMHO you don't seem to have a clue of what the problem is. I think you are just reading random responses and hoping that one sticks? It is OK to say "I don't know" or better yet, not to try to answer the question.

    Hi,

    Sorry to hear you're experiencing this issue.

    You will need to re-sync your Microsoft account password on both computers. You can use this procedure to force the re-sync of the password.

    1-Click on Start, search for Command Prompt

    2-Right-click on that and select "Run as Administrator"

    3-Type one of these commands and press Enter:

    runas /u:MicrosoftAccount[YourMicrosoftAccount] cmd.exe

    or

    runas /u:[YourMicrosoftAccount] cmd.exe

    Note: Replace the [YourMicrosoftAccount] with the Microsoft account that you are using to connect to the computer.

    4-When finished, reboot both computers and try to connect again

    I'm sorry if my previous answer was not clear and didn't make sense to you.

    If you use the PIN to sign in on Windows and change your Microsoft password, sometimes the old password is kept in the cache of the Windows. When this happens and you need to log in on a Windows feature using your new password Windows will show the error message "wrong user or password" because Windows still thinks that the old password is the valid one.

    Forcing the re-sync of your Microsoft account password will clean the old password from the Windows cache and make Windows accept the new password.
