    Hi Erwin,

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

I'm Hahn and I'm here to help you with your concern.

It seems like you're experiencing an issue where your display settings for extending your screen to a second monitor have disappeared. This can be frustrating, but there are several steps you can take to troubleshoot and hopefully resolve the problem:

    • Restart Your Device: A simple restart can sometimes resolve display issues. Save any open work and restart your laptop to see if the issue is resolved upon reboot.
    • Force Detect Displays: You can manually force it to detect displays by right-clicking on the desktop and selecting "Display Settings." In the window that opens, click "Detect" to see if Windows can find the second monitor.
    • Right-click on your desktop and select "Display settings" from the drop-down menu. If this option is not available, try pressing the Windows key + P to open the Project menu and select "Extend" to extend your display to the second monitor.
    • Check Graphics Driver: Outdated or corrupt graphics drivers can also cause display-related issues. Go to Device Manager, expand the Display adapters section, right-click on your graphics card, and select Update driver. You can also visit the manufacturer's website to download and install the latest driver for your graphics card.
    • Safe mode starts Windows in a basic state, using a limited set of files and drivers. If a problem doesn't happen in safe mode, this means that default settings and basic device drivers aren't causing the issue. Observing Windows in safe mode enables you to narrow down the source of a problem, and can help you troubleshoot problems on your PC. Start your PC in safe mode in Windows - Microsoft Support

If you've tried these steps and are still facing issues, it might be helpful to consult the support documentation of your laptop or monitor manufacturer or seek equipment manufactory support.

I hope one of these solutions helps you get your dual-screen setup working again!

    Your Sincerely
