How can I troubleshoot the connectivity and audio issues with my AirPods on my Lenovo laptop to ensure they are recognized as "Connected mic, audio", rather than just "Connected"?

Hello, I would love some help getting the sound and microphone to work on my Airpods when they are connected to my Lenovo laptop.

For the last year, I have noticed that my AirPods would be "Connected" to my laptop. However, the sound plays on my laptop. I have removed my AirPods, factory reset them and then reconnected them to my laptop. Yet, the initial problem persists.

For further testing, I connected my sister's AirPods, to find that it works as it should! The microphone and audio can be used by the AirPods. For more background, we bought our AirPods at the same time, and my AirPods used to work as they should, and only just last year it suddenly stopped.

If you look at the image I have attached, I noticed that her (Anita's) Airpods say "Connected mic, audio" whereas mine says "Connected". What should I do with my settings/laptop to make mine say "Connected mic, audio"?

I would love for some help or advice. Thank you!

I had the same problem, could pair my airpods as a bluetooth device but could not select them as an audio output.  It was driving me crazy...took a lot of troubleshooting but here's what worked for me:

    • Go to Device Manager
    • Expand "System Devices"
    • Find AirPods Hands-Free AG (Mine was labeled "Airpods Pro Hands-Free AG")
    • Right click and open up "Properties"
    • Click the "Driver" tab and "Disable Device"
    • My PC prompted me to restart but started working right away.

Prior to this, I had done all the recommended troubleshooting and nothing worked!

    • Overall PC reboot
    • Unpaired and repaired AirPods to PC...toggled Bluetooth on and off and tried this again
    • Used windows audio troubleshooter
    • Confirmed I have the latest audio driver
    • Confirmed I'm on the latest apple firmware for my generation
    • Confirmed that I can connect other audio devices (Bose Earbuds, JBL Headphones, JBL Speaker, Amazon Echo) and select them as audio outputs
    • Disabled all other Bluetooth devices except the AirPods in device manager
    • Troubleshoot live with a Lenovo support rep

    Hope that helps!

Thank you so much, Keith! My audio finally is connected thanks to you! Now I've got to troubleshoot the mic disconnectivity, but I'm so glad that half the problem is solved.

Okay, my laptop was already up to date with all the updates when I ran the Lenovo Vantage. As for the win11 update settings, the latest updates toggle is turned off.

I am unsure how to proceed from here.

As a start run the Lenovo Vantage update utility.

In win11 update settings ensure "Get latest updates" is turned off
