Thank you so much for this information. I appreciate it and it looks like I will be using my old workhorse for MM. I appreciate your reply.
I am using Windows 11 with Movie Maker. I've used MM for years and know how to operate it. But right now, it's not letting me add a music track to the video clips that I have edited.
I am using Windows 11 with Movie Maker. I've used MM for years and know how to operate it. But right now, it's not letting me add a music track to the video clips that I have edited together. At first it was closing down each time I tried it. I finally tricked it with a different song. But now, even though you can see the green sound ribbon at the bottom, it is still silent. No sound. I know that my regular sound is working because this video begins with a short few seconds of video with natural sound. You CAN hear that. But where I want to add "ADD MUSIC FROM THE CURRENT POINT" it just goes silent, even though the green ribbon is there and it looks like it does contain sound. And yes, I have my music volume turned up in "Music Tools". Can't figure it out. I've made hundreds of videos with this over the years, and this has never happened. Yes, I have the VIDEO SOUND turned all the way off under Video Tools. What could be the problem.
Thanks for any help.

2024-04-23T13:12:31+00:00 Hi
I have removed movie maker pro several times, rebooted my laptop before reinstalling sometimes immediately or after one or two windows updates have been installed all with the same result - an error message.
I have no solution other than to use my old laptop when i want to process videos with movie maker. that laptop uses windows 11. I wonder if there's a bug in my newer machine that is burried in a component of movie maker that isn't erased in the uninstalling process or my newer machine has been able to install an update (unavailable to my old laptop hardware) that conflicts with movie maker or some other problem that I don't understand is possible

2024-04-23T03:35:55+00:00 When I upgraded to Windows 11, I lost my beloved Movie Maker, on which I posted so many travel videos. I am a travel writer and that program was my go-to for simple and beautiful videos. I would appreciate any help as to where I can find an "old fashioned" Windows 7 version of Movie Maker, and happy to pay. Thanks for any advice.

2024-01-28T16:54:31+00:00 I have also started to have a difficulty. In my case, I have been joining videos for a couple of years using movie maker pro on windows 11. It has just started to generate a unknown failure message when I try to join the videos.
The videos all played fine when not joined. I converted them with an app that converts them to be compatible with movie maker - still no joy. Uninstalled movie maker, rebooted and reinstalled it - still no joy after trying that a couple of times.
I'm wondering if this is a general problem due to some recent incompatible windows update or if there's a software bug in my machine that persists despite reinstalling.
any thoughts would be gratefully received

2023-12-07T07:58:29+00:00 Dear Mike Hicks1
Thank you for posting in the Microsoft community.
Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve this issue:
Check the format of the music track you are trying to add. Make sure it is a compatible file format such as MP3 or WAV.
Restart Movie Maker and try adding the music track again. Sometimes a simple restart can resolve software glitches.
Check if there are any updates available for Movie Maker. Updating the software to the latest version may resolve any compatibility issues.
Try adding a different music track to see if the issue is specific to the file you are trying to use.
If none of the above steps work, consider reinstalling Movie Maker to see if that resolves the issue.
If you continue to experience problems, you may want to consider using alternative video editing software to add the music track to your edited video clips.

Since MM has stopped technical support, we recommend you to use the new WINDOWS video editing tool in the new WINDOWS system.
I hope the above information helps you
