USB Tethering Not Working - Windows 11

I've been searching for hours now about a solution on why my USB tethering is getting greyed while trying to activate in my Android Phone.
I've seen many places mentioning about RNDIS Adaptar driver, but its not listed in my Internet Adapters and when I try to update mine drive with this RNDIS option it dont work and I have to roll back the driver.

Any idea on why its not recognizing? I have 2 phones and I've used one in the past with tether before, the second is a brand new same manufactory and same issue.

Both Xiaomi devices. I've also tried with a samsung device same problem.

these are my network adapters

I was not able to find official Xiaomi USB drivers online, so it might impact.

What I've Tried already:

  • Install manually the RNDIS Adapter 6 driver replacing my main network driver -> Didnt work and I ended up without internet, rolled back with previous hardware compatible driver
  • Enabled Tether USB as the default option in My Android
  • Restarted both pc and android
  • both are updated

First of all, thank you so much for taking your time to help me!

I´ve tried all the suggestions you describe and nothing happens when I try to share my phone connection with my desktop. Seems like its a driver problem indeed, but at the same time Im not able to install the RNDIS driver and its not prebuild installed.

I tried to find my manufacturer drivers, and basically I was only able to reinstall the network one, the usb was not present in the sources.

Any advice to a easy way to find and reinstall drivers safely? I always used the windows update to keep things up to date, but don't seems do be helping with this.

    Thanks in advance!

    Hello, JoaoLuizn

    Welcome to the Microsoft Community.

Hello, I'm sorry to reply you now, when you need to update or reinstall the driver manually, the following methods may help you:

    1. Manually update the device driver:

In the search box on the taskbar, type “Device Manager” and select the “Device Manager” application.

In Device Manager, find the device you want to update (e.g., graphics card, sound card, printer, etc.) and right-click on it.

Select the “Automatically search for newer driver software” option to allow the system to search for and install the appropriate driver.

If the system is unable to find a new driver, or if you need to reinstall the driver, you can select “Browse your computer for driver software” and specify the location of the downloaded driver file, or select a driver from the list of drivers provided by the system.

    1. Use Windows Update:

Right-click the Start button, then click Device Manager.

On the Device Manager screen, right-click the unknown device and select the Uninstall Device option.

After uninstalling the device, restart your computer. After the computer restarts, Windows will automatically find and reinstall the latest updated driver software for this device.

    1. Check for Windows updates:

Go to Settings > Update and Security > select Windows Update in the left pane.

In the right pane, click View Optional Updates.

On the next screen, expand the Driver Updates entry, select the driver update you want to install, and click the Download and Install button.

Wait for the update to install on your computer

We hope that these methods have been helpful to you! If you have any further questions, please feel free to let us know.

    Best regards
