Help! Did I get a virus or is my computer okay?

Hi! I was looking up images with the Google Lens option, specifically at related photos and clicked on one for a website called "Tumgir," with an icon that looks like the Tumblr icon except yellow.

When the page opened, a pop-up appeared saying, "Your computer is being scanned." A green bar started filling up horizontally in the pop-up, and it looked like an off-brand system one when you're deleting files or something. I quickly exited the tab because I was freaking out. I didn't get any screenshots, but I promptly went to scan my laptop for viruses (quick scan) with the Windows security already downloaded on my laptop. I've done multiple quick scans, and it hasn't found anything.

I then found a website detailing how to get rid of Tumgir viruses (which is for ads randomly popping up or being redirected to Tumgir). It said to look at what apps were recently downloaded and uninstall them, and nothing suspicious was there. I'm still really nervous, though. My computer isn't being weird but I want to make sure I'm in the clear. Is there anything I can do to guarantee my computer is virus-free?

Also, when I look at my history on my laptop, the website is listed as (1) New Message! For context, I didn't even see if it asked me to allow notifications or anything, so I definitely didn't click that or anything else on the page, including the pop-up. All of the Windows security stuff is also activated on my laptop and is up to date.

If anybody has any advice, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you in advance!

Hi, I am an Independent Advisor.

Let me help you with this issue.

I understand you need to know if your machine is virus-free.

Have you tried running other anti-virus scanners?

Please follow the steps below on how to scan your machine further.

Please also try Microsoft Safety Scanner - https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365...

    And follow these additional steps.

Uninstall an unwanted application in Programs and features,

Go to start type in Control Panel, then go to Programs and then Programs and Features then go to the list of the programs look for anything unusual or any application that you are not aware right click then uninstall.

Delete Temporary files off Windows 10.

Tap the Windows Key then R on your keyboard, on the Run box type in %temp% then press enter.

Once it is up highlight all then delete, if there is a filé open that can't be deleted just skip it.

    I hope this helps.

If the above scanner did not detect any please use these 3rd party tools.

Let's try downloading the free version of Malwarebytes, it is a freeware that you can use to scan, detect, and delete viruses like the one you currently have.

You can download the free version from this link

Once installed please make a full scan. You may remove this software once you are done with it.

You can also try an online malware scanner - https://www.eset.com/int/home/online-scanner/

Thank you for your prompt reply! I tried everything you suggested, and every scan came back clear. When I used the Microsoft safety scanner, it said there were 8 files "infected," but by the end of the almost three-hour scan, it said everything was fine and no threats were detected.

Is it safe to say my laptop is okay?
