Second Monitor Audio No Longer Detected

(Windows 10)

For background, I removed my PC from my desk and brought it over to my Sony TV to play games on a bigger screen. Ive been using my TV as a main monitor for a while but recently purchased a super long HDMI so I can move my PC back to my desk.

My PC has a display port and an HDMI port that ive been using exclusively for my TV. When my PC used to be at my desk it would connect using the display port for my main monitor. Now that ive moved it back to my desk and reconnected it to my monitor via display port, I also connected the HDMI to my TV and set up dual screen extended.

The displays work fine as extended screens, however, for some reason the audio from my TV is undetected despite it working fine before setting it up as a second monitor.

When i used to play games on the TV via HDMI the audio would use the SONY TV SPEAKER but since setting it up as a second monitor, it no longer shows up. In my control panel sound settings, it says the SONY TV SPEAKER is "unplugged" and thus not an option, despite my TV being perfectly connected and functioning as a second monitor.

I tried disconnecting the display port to main monitor and kept my TV connected to PC via HDMI (the same thing i used to do to play games) and yet it no longer detected my TVs audio even when set to be the main and only monitor. I tried different HDMIs and inputs but it now no longer detects my TVs audio like it used to.

An extra detail I noticed is that when i had two monitors connected, both my first and second monitor details said they were connected to my NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060. I was wondering why it stated this, rather than saying Sony TV is my second monitor. Im wondering if this discrepancy is whats causing my PC to now think its not connected to my TV even though it is. It also still says NVIDIA even when my TV was the only one connected (nvidia monitor was disconnected). Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Hi, ☾ naomox ⚝

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

We understand that you are experiencing the problem that after setting up dual monitors, the sound is not outputting from the second monitor. It should be noted that you can only choose to play sound on one of the monitors, if you change between monitors but there is no sound, this is because HDMI is with audio and defaults to HD output when plugged in.

Suggest you can try the following operation: right-click on the lower right corner of the computer desktop trumpet - select a sound output - and then select the speakers - set as the system default output.

In addition, if both of your monitors show RTX 3060 connected, it means that both of your monitors are connected to your discrete graphics card, which may not have anything to do with the audio settings.

    Sincerely
