Hi,

I have a serious question!

Why APIPA alway start with 169?

Why it doesn't start with 120 or 195 or something like that?

What is the matmatical purpose behind it?

Thanks

Good day zhiyar, thanks for your question. I am glad to be able to provide assistance to you today. This is specifically a reserved range of IP addresses designated for automatic assignment by clients/devices when they cannot obtain a valid IP address from DHCP source/server due to availability or configuration issues and thus this reserved range is from 169.254.0.1 to 169.254.255.254.

    Regards,

    Paul R.
