Microphone input registering as 0% volume

Hi,

Hopefully someone can help as I'm really at a loss now. I got a new headset and the microphone wasn't working but the device was paired by Bluetooth. connected and audio output through the headphones was normal. I tried a different headset connected by USB (Logitech G Pro X) and it showed 0% input volume, I then tried the same headset with aux 3.5mm inputs on both the case connection and the ones on the back of the motherboard with the same result. I have previously used a headset and standalone mic with this PC so it shouldn't be hardware related, I think it's something weird with the settings or drivers even though the drivers are all up to date.

I've now reinstalled Windows 11 using cloud download and reset, chose not to keep my files or restore from a backup and set up as a new PC. I go to sound in system settings and whilst it detects the mic in the list of audio input devices the mic volume still shows as 0%. The mic is physically connected properly to the PC and I have no idea why it no longer recognises any sound from the microphone.

Thanks.

I'm having the same exact issue. Headset speakers work as they should, but when I go to test the microphone input it says 0%. Even tried an actual 3.5mm jack microphone and it does the same exact problem....Not sure what it is...

I have the same issue with my JBL headset.

When connected to my phone, the speakers and microphone works perfect.

When connected to my pc, the speakers work, but not the microphone. Drivers are up to date, volume is set to where it should be, but when testing the microphone, I get a 0% volume return.

I'm having the same problem with my Corsair Void Pro Wireless Gaming headset with a 0% volume on the microphone test.

    Hi Richard Wesley,

Welcome to the Microsoft community and thank you for asking your question in the community!

According to your description, your Bluetooth headset microphone is not working properly when connected to Windows 11.

You've tried setting up your app microphone permissions all the way through, and your attempts to use Windows' microphone test and recorder have both detected that it's not working properly.

While I would like to offer you a solution right away, after my testing (using a Redmi Buds 4) and setting my device to the same selections as yours, I can't seem to reproduce your issue.

I think most of this situation is due to the Bluetooth driver not working properly.

Suggest you uninstall the device in the Bluetooth device option in Device Manager and then try removing the device in the Bluetooth devices page.

After that try to re-add it to your Windows 11 computer.

You can also add your Bluetooth device by going to Control Panel > Select Large Icons Show > Right click Devices and Printers to open in a new window > Right click your Bluetooth device.

Select to the Services column, uncheck all services and click OK, then re-check all services and click OK. Generally speaking, a few attempts may fix it.

Due to this problem many users have also encountered, and the nature of the community work, can not determine the specific cause of the scene, here please understand.

Thank you again for your understanding and support! Please let me know if I have misunderstood. Tell us the results and we will get back to you as soon as possible. We look forward to hearing from you.

    Best regards,
